The Government makes not one bit of sense if they really believe that making the gun laws more strict, that it will prevent more crime from happening! Do they really think that by making it harder for citizens to purchase or carry firearms, that it will make it harder for criminals obtain one? In some cities, it is so easy to buy a firearm off the street, as how easy it is to buy a cheeseburger from a McDonalds. They will never be able to stop the availability of firearms on the street. They think the laws will prevent more violent crime? By not allowing citizens to be able to protect themselves, is only going to increase violent crime.
Law abiding citizens abide by the law, criminals don't! If the law says you can not buy or carry a gun, the law abiding citizen would not break the law and purchase one illegally, they would abide the law and not purchase or carry a gun. The law wouldn't effect the criminal, simply because he can purchase a gun cheap off the streets, and will carry it anywhere that doesn't have metal detectors or body searches. So now the law has the Law abiding citizen unarmed and limited to ways they can protect themselves, and the criminal is still armed. The criminal knows that since the gun law is more strict that this means there are less people able to protect themselves, and makes it easy for the criminal to commit crime.
You do not have time to take out your phone and call 911 and wait for them to arrive. By that time the victim count can be enormous.
The Government just wants to blame something to control, so since they can control guns to a certain extent but can not control human actions, they blame it on guns. Last year, knives killed 5 times as many people then rifles. The Government also wants to have control over citizens, and to have the power to make us helpless and unable to defend ourselves against a tyrannical Government.
They should make the punishments for breaking laws more strict.
