What is "Greed" exactly?

: a selfish and excessive desire for more of something (as money) than is needed.

OK, so who gets to decide how much money is more than someone else needs?

Examples of GREED
  1. He was a ruthless businessman, motivated by naked ambition and greed.
  2. <don't let greed for riches control you>
Why is it that only businessmen are perceived to be "ruthless" or "greedy"? When football players or actors demand multi-million dollar salaries they're never crucified for being "greedy" Why are people who can't get simple drive thru orders correct not "greedy" for demanding over $30K per year when that's the salary of a soldier getting shot at in Afghanistan? Let's face it, the people who financed the whole industry took a gamble and expect payoff for their investment. If all of their profit is expected to used to fund "labor" (if you "think" acting, forgetting to to put the fries in the bag or playing football is labor,) what is the point of investing?

As far as I'm concerned the definition of "greed" is bullshit. "Greed" is being motivated by the pursuit of wealth and power regardless of the negative effects it will have on others. Greed isn't simply providing a product or service for the highest price possible in order to achieve the best profit margin. That's just fuckin common sense. There certainly are some CEO's out there that put profit at the bottom line without regard to how their decisions effect the rest of the company, like moving the production lines to China. Yes that sucks, but WHY would they do that?

When government commissars enact regulations, demand fees, or otherwise interfere with production in order to justify hiring more inspectors and bureaucrats, increase their government budgets, and create offices that merely sit back and "monitor" industries how is that not "greedy"? Government officials have created redundant offices of regulators, who tax and otherwise cost industry so much that going to China can mean the difference between bankruptcy and maintaining a profit margin.

Couple that with left wing unions that force businesses to pay high wages for unskilled labor, who's union dues end up in the pockets and campaigns of the same government commissars how can our companies
resist packing up and moving to more business friendly environments? Why are these government cronies never faulted for their own greed? They're doing very little if anything for anyone else, but their salaries always go up. It's because of their actions that entire cities are in ruin. There are so many cities in the US, like Detroit, Camden, Baltimore, Buffalo... that were once prosperous places people from rural ares flocked to in order to make a living, that people are now fleeing from to rural areas just to be left alone.

If you ask me, "Corporate Greed" built America.

Government Greed is destroying it.

The reason for this thread is because I read this vapid article with some bed wetter decrying the loss of our cities, and naturally he regurgitated some occutard nonsense.

Who/what do you blame for the decline of these cities?

The easy answer is corporate greed disguised as progress, but, as we all know, that’s a train that doesn’t stop for anyone or anything. It was much easier to break the unions and send the work overseas, where they didn’t have to worry about paying an American worker a living wage.

That was the stupid answer. The real beast that never stops for anyone is liberal government disguised as "progress". These massive cities would not exist if industrialists weren't "greedy". The buildings are falling down, jobs are gone, the workers have fled because greedy government commissars came along after the fact and destroyed the profitable environment.
