Gov. Brown signs bill allowing people to break into cars to rescue animals from heat

There is no excuse for letting an animal go into convulsions and die in a hot, locked car. There might be justification for letting a child die in a locked car. The kid could have found mom's gun and shoots you upon breaking the window. Or, the child once revived accuses you of attempted kidnapping. So leave the kids in the car and save the animals.

This is great news for thieves. You can now break into a car and steal stuff knowing that if caught you just claim there was a dog roasting inside. Where is the dog? He ran off.

Gov. Brown signs bill allowing people to break into cars to rescue animals from heat

Gov. Jerry Brown on Saturday signed into law a measure allowing Californians to break into vehicles to rescue animals if they appear to be in danger from excessive heat

The bill by Assemblyman Marc Steinorth (R-Rancho Cucamonga), Miguel Santiago (D-Los Angeles) and others was introduced after a series of incidents in which dogs died after being left in closed cars on hot days.

"We're very excited about the lives this new law will save," Steinorth said in a statement Saturday on Facebook. "Thank you to everyone who helped us raise awareness of this serious issue and showed their support."

Under AB 797, a citizen must first call law enforcement to report a situation in which he or she believes an animal to be in peril.

But if the animal is in imminent danger, the car is locked, and law enforcement is not arriving quickly enough to save the animal’s life, the bill provides immunity from civil and criminal liability to a person causing vehicle damage for the purpose of rescuing the animal.

People shouldn't mistreat animals by leaving them in hot cars.

Are you still medicated for your diagnosed clinical depression? You need a med change.

Why would a person stealing something wait for Law Enforcement to claim immunity?

I hve never been diagnosed with clinical depression nor have I been medicated for it.

Are you drunk?
I don't drink but you do lie because you said you were medicated for clinical depression. Go. Deny it now. Whatever you need to do.
