Good news for Americans

Don't the Florida families bunch sound like a nice, warm, loving lot?
In fact they hate a lot of people.

Muslims, obviously by the way they try to stop any Muslims having a voice in America. (That's about 1.3% of Americans)
Gays, what do you expect from ultra right wing morons? (That's about 4% of Americans)
Democrats (That's about 47% of Americans)
Anyone who reads Marvel comics. (That's most American kids)
This massive group, representing families, has even managed to stop a learning channel show's advertisers, because it involved Muslims.
Florida Family Association shuts down website, claims it was hacked | Tampa Bay Times
David Caton, executive director of the Florida Family Association, said his group shut down its website Monday night, leaving a simple text message for anyone visiting FloridaFamily.org protesting that the attack is "destroying our free speech."
Hang on - "destroying our free speech." - but isn't that what this family group is trying to do?

Ah well, if they represent all American families in Florida.......

During the mid-1990s, after hearing about the harassment of gay students, the principal of Largo High School in Florida created a support group for them. Over the next year or two, the meetings also drew sympathetic friends, evolving into a club called the Gay Straight Alliance. For a while, it operated in comfortable obscurity.

Then, in 1998, the principal, Barbara Thornton, began receiving postcards, many bearing the identical message bizarrely denouncing the alliance as a “government-funded witch hunt.” The local school board felt compelled to take up the issue, with 400 parents attending a meeting at which one speaker compared the gay students to murderers.

During that session, Ms. Thornton encountered the man who had manufactured the entire controversy: David Caton. An accountant turned rock-club owner, the author of a book about his pornography addiction, Mr. Caton had become a born-again Christian and the founder and sole employee of a fundamentalist group called the Florida Family Association.

Just a second.
One man; not outraged families and a man who went all born again so, as with all religious fanatics, ranted on until he caused enough trouble to make a name for himself.

Ah well (again), I suppose American tax payers have the right of free speech; even when they're trying to deny the right of free speech to about half the American population.

Light rail systems because he thinks they're immoral
Family values crusader David Caton now takes on light rail | Tampa Bay Times

But on that odd marriage of rail and the right side of God: "I think it is immoral," Caton says of the rail issue. "I believe it's immoral to tax, to take more away from the poor to give money to the special interests."

How would he know? it's not like he's a taxpayer.

He does like a bit of porn

Just short of $60,000.

Is that around minimum wage in Florida?

So, in summery, we have one tax exempt man who earns $60,000 a year and wants to remove the right of free speech from about half of the American population.
Remind me to set up an interest group - it'll save me bothering paying tax.

Oh the Irony of this one! Attempting to rally gays to the side of groups that call for the execution of gay people! You just can't make it up, Folks!! :eusa_hand:

HA!

Afraid? Where do you see afraid in that memo? I'm not on the run. Although if some folks get their way - it might be in your future! Those guys don't take kindly to people kissing up to them out of fear. Just a heads UP for ya out there! It won't buy you any brownie points with them, RW. But suit yourself...

- Jeri

What are you afraid of?

If you hate Muslims as much as it seems.....Don't watch

I don't hate Muslims, RW. I hate Muslim Terrorism and the type of folks who give it atttention and sympathy. See the difference? - Jeri

Where has Al Jazeera given sympathy to terrorists?

One more thing, Indo! It was an elite team of bloggers that were the driving force behind opening the eyes of these advertisers to drop Muslim Brotherhood mouth piece - Al Jazeera! You're welcome.

- Jeri

What are you afraid of?

Afraid? No. But why give voice and legitimacy to the religion of hate's mouthpiece? Why do you embrace it?

Better yet, why finance it with your money? Boycott Al Jazeera and send them the message they are not wanted in America. The only proper response is to drive them off the air waves. FOR GOOD.

Because it so obviously is none of the things you suggest.

It does not represent Islam, anymore so than NBC represents Christianity.

If it was preaching Jihad, I doubt anyone would be defending them. As you can see from comments here, they have an excellent reputation.

Al Jazeera has earned their reputation, Saigon. No amount of damage control is going to help them at this point. It's all downhill from here.. no use in trying to prop up a lost cause.

To anti Americans the arrival of a propaganda outlet like Al Jazeera is good news. It gives they something to watch that will reinforce their own anti American views.

Right, that must be why 118 Major American Companies dropped Al Jazeera like a hot potato when the American people found out - even before Al Jazeera aired! Ha! Ha!

Al Jazeera - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

In the 2000s, the network was praised by the Index on Censorship for circumventing censorship and contributing to the free exchange of information in the Arab world, and by the Webby Awards, who nominated it as one of the five best news web sites, along with BBC News, National Geographic and The Smoking Gun. It was also voted by Brandchannel readers as the fifth most influential global brand behind Apple, Google, Ikea and Starbucks. In 2011, Salon.com said Al Jazeera's coverage of the 2011 Egyptian protests was superior to that of the American news media

I watched their one hour news recap this morning. The stories were straight news reporting with exceptional across the board international reporting. Reminded me of the old CNN twenty years ago. It ranged from the massive rainstorms in the Phillipines to the economic recession in Indonesia to Bradley Manning pre-sentencing. Also they showed a hard to watch in-depth video of the Syrian chemical attacks with no pre-warning.
I can't vouch for their other shows, but their straight news hour is the way news should and used to be presented. I had the thought that U.S. cable news reporting has become so American-centric, being highly omissive of many international events. The reporting was never about the reporters and stayed focused on the stories.
I'll continue to watch.

As they'll beat the far right's attempt at censorship in America.
The only reason the right object is, AJ will present a fresh opinion, devoid of hate speech and non of the made up crap that American TV pumps out.
