Biggest Crappie I ever caught was 16inches in northern MN.
We were hitting a lot of 13-15 this year.
Funny thing is we catch them while fishing for Walleye.

My favorite Crappie hole. Dutch bay in Voyageurs National Park on the MN/Ontario border. A 65 mile stretch of water encompassing 4 huge lakes.
