But Harley's problem is the boomers are aging out. They have sort of a niche product and name brand.

They're a classic but expensive.

I don't really see a future for gas motorcycles, beyond several more decades.

Thats one thing harley is starting to work on. Fully electric.
But their main problem is price. A young cat is going to spend 30K on a motorcycle, when he can get one from Honda, with 20 more HP, for 22K less.
I see very few people my age on harleys. Unless they are older models.

That's one problem that Tesla faces, maybe not as much of a price difference as motorcycles, but you can definitely get an electric car for less than half the price of a Tesla.

If the company was already in a difficult financial spot, they would have been planning the move for some time, the tax cut, an unsure reality until a few months ago; would not have even have been considered, and even when enacted would have been far too late.

Now if Obama had understood the private market better and had the appreciation for business owners and taxpayers to decrease business and individual taxes in say, 2012, maybe Harley stays.
