GM is partnering with Segway to make this little gadget. Of course, like the stand-up version (which is geeky enough), now we'll have a 5000 dollar, overpriced electric wheelchair to get us around NYC at 35mph.

NYC is flat.

Bikes go fast.

They cost a couple hundred dollars.

They aren't nearly as geeky as a Segway.


And for the same amount, you can get a motorcycle, which is probably safer in the city traffic than this wheelchair.

But, hey, the advantage is that once you get hit by a car in Segway's new wheelchair, you'll at least have a wheelchair.

I sort of like the human transporters but there is never any room to carry anything else. I would be nice to use one of these just for school or work and this one keeps you from getting rained on.

Also, they have the wheelchairs that go up stairs. Those are a little scary but they are at least thinking of better ways to move people.

Um Sarah the wheels on the front and back are to keep it from falling over when it's stopped. Desperate people try desperate things and GM is by now sick of being hammered by the enviro-twerps over everything else they make which gets better Gas mileage than most of the stuff not made by Ford in the same class (that's sedan, pick up truck etc for you people that don't know car lingo).

Also no price has been set. They are electric as well. And they can be set up if the city has the infrastructure to not HIT other vehicles or people.
