I've been reasonably active in politics most all my life, but there was a time (not long ago) that few people were willing to discuss public affairs and even fewer had much of an idea what was going on. Obama's election has galvanized people to read, listen, debate and to become active.

I might not share the POV of each and every person who went out and protested at tea bagger rallies, etc., but I find it immensely heart-warming to see them doing so. I don't see how we can help but prosper from an electorate that is watching DC so closely.

It doesn't matter I don't think, TM. Even if someone had his first political thought this year, that person is still paying attention now. Even if all they do is gather a bunch of right wing talking points, they are still more alert than they have been.

I fully expect a Republican slaughterhouse this November. I also expect Obama will be a one term president. Once the Republicans have the reins back again, these newly-awake people are not all gonna fall instantly back to sleep.

I have seen HUNDREDS of posts by conservatives with misspelled words (and bad grammer) and, when liberals have pointed out these misspellings or grammatical inaccuracies conservatives are quite quick to say things like "typical of liberals to IGNORE what I am saying and sieze on the insignificance of a spelling error"

Not only that, we get lambasted for using links to any mainstream news copy, especially that evil New York Times, while the cons have carte blanche freedom to post all kinds of bullshit from Washington Times, Newsmax, Drudge, Fox, and especially the infamous right wing blogsites that control the news cycle. Quoting from Wiki is not permitted, unless one of them can only find supporting evidence there. When what you have written is so badly spelled (or punctuated or grammatically incorrect) people have to strain to try and imagine what you meant, that's a failure to communicate.
