Give 'em hell, Bernie!

If he is a socialist, he is wrong on everything and should not be an elected official in the U.S.

Who the fuck are you to tell us who we can and can not elect as our Senator? Should Vermont have to get permission from some backwater hell-hole before we chose who represents us?

Vermont IS a backwater hell-hole. More redneck asshats than Texas.

Vermont is:

1. The healthiest state in the union.

2. The smartest.
Smartest State 2006-2007

3. one of the lowest in terms of unemployment
Unemployment Rates for States

4. Lowest in terms of people in poverty.
Percent below poverty level (most recent) by state

5. And among the most educated.

There are a few "redneck asshats", but not many.

And here's an example of one of the few guys with the cojones to tell the truth in no uncertain terms:

No rather he is one of the Jews (like Karl Marx) that makes even me, a unbashful Zionist, become antisemitic and think the Skinsheads have a point!

Sanders has to be the worst senator in Congress!

I lived in VT for two great years. They have a lot going for them! But don't give Colonel Sanders the benefits. Colonel Sanders is in the US government. The VT state government is who should get credit for it!

Here is what they have going for it:
(1) They have small rural population that is less suspectible to crime and much easier to manage.
(2) They don't have an illegal immigrant problem, so their hospitals don't get overrun by illegals who skip on the bills, their schools aren't flooded with illegal children who need extra expensive care whose parents don't pay taxes and they don't have a welfare and food stamp problem for illegals. Americans are able to get the jobs that illegals take in other states, such as the construction, cook and farming jobs!
(3) Be honest they don't have the urban criminal problem that plagues most states like say IL, CA, FL or NY.
(4) They have lush forests, so lumber industry is huge in VT.
(5) Property is extremely inexpensive, food is dirt cheap and even people who work for minimum wage can afford a house, food on the table and gas for the car.
(6) They have lush farm land/
(7) The amazing ski mountains attract rich New Yorkers and Canadaians who spend a ton of money during the winter months.
(8) The cheap property and very cheap labor (some of the lowest in the country) allowed for an attractive environment for manufacturing and industrial companies regardless of the higher business taxes!

Vermont has done alright regardless of what Comrade Sanders tries to change!

Before being Rep Sanders or Senator Sanders, Bernie was the mayor the largest city in Vermont. During his time, the city was transformed from an industrial waterfront community with a dying urban core to an award-winning, vibrant and active community with a crown-jewel of a downtown walking mall, dozens of miles of lakefront and forest paths, and a community-owned waterfront park where industry once created brownfields. While Sen Sanders isn't in state government here, his legacy is very much alive and well.

well OK, but that doesn't explain why we have superior outcomes to other rural states.

(2) They don't have an illegal immigrant problem, so their hospitals don't get overrun by illegals who skip on the bills, their schools aren't flooded with illegal children who need extra expensive care whose parents don't pay taxes and they don't have a welfare and food stamp problem for illegals. Vermont has thousands of migrant agricultural workers who come here to work. Relative to our population, I'd guess that we have as any northern state.

(3) Be honest they don't have the urban criminal problem that plagues most states like say IL, CA, FL or NY.

indeed - that helps;)
(4) They have lush forests, so lumber industry is huge in VT.
(5) Property is extremely inexpensive, food is dirt cheap and even people who work for minimum wage can afford a house, food on the table and gas for the car.

Vermont's housing stock is VERY expensive. In it's largest city, the median home price is $378,000. Food is no cheaper here than most places and no one making our augmented minimum wage can afford a house.

(6) They have lush farm land/
(7) The amazing ski mountains attract rich New Yorkers and Canadaians who spend a ton of money during the winter months.

That is absolutely true! It's notable, however, that we have those things because we foster them. NH and NY have similar traits, but neither has capitalized on their states brand as Vermont has.

I wonder what would happen if VT:

A) Had a real urban center
B) Has increased in size to that of an average state
C) An average population size and composition.

It's still Vermont. And yes, people from Vermont continually tell us how smart they are.. that don't make it so.

The largest city in Vermont? What would that be... I can't name one damned city in Vermont for that matter. Time to hit Google Earth.

Typical conservobabbler. Despite the fact that it doesn't meet your description in any way, despite your own admittance you need Google Earth in order to name a city, you stick by your guns.

You'll make a fine Palin/Bachman 2012 voter.

I shall... anyhoo.. it's Vermont. Who fucking cares. Maple syrup and George Utley.

New Hampshire's a much prettier state, and the people aren't nearly as douchey.
