No. The strength of the German economy is such that if it still had it's own currency, it would be much higher relative to the euro.

It is the same piece of paper in all states. The Euro pretty much ended the discussion of relative currency strengths, as the paper is fully fungible across all borders, and people and goods can move across all borders without hindrance. How can the identical thing have two different strengths in the different places?

Because the German economy is much more productive than the southern economies. When that happens under a common currency, the relative prices for German goods fall and rise for the southern economies rise. This causes a flow of capital from the south to the north. With differing currencies, the Mark would rise and the southern currencies would fall, causing the northward flow of capital to dissipate as relative prices of German goods rose relative to southern prices. But because the continent is under one currency, this flow of capital never stops. Because capital is flowing out of the country, the southern countries have a choice - either become more productive through a brutal deflation or borrow more. Because structural changes in productivity are very difficult, the countries borrowed more. This is the crux of the problem, and why the euro area as currently constructed is untenable over the long run. It CANNOT survive as is.

Any currency union needs safety valves to release the pressures of differences in local economies. You do that one of two ways - either the flow of labour out of the depressed area into the booming economy, or the flow of capital from the booming economy into the depressed area, ie a transfer union. In theory, the EU has free movement of labour. In practice, there are very large cultural barriers to this. You aren't going to move a third of all Greeks to Germany in a decade for example. The other option is a transfer union, which is what the Euro elite are trying to establish but is facing fierce opposition in Germany, Holland and Finland.

The productivity differentials and structure of the euro defy economic logic. That's why it will either be reformed or collapse.

There isn't really a big crime problem in Germany.
German Police is very good and everything is under control, serious mass street violence only occurs when nuclear-waste is transported to France or when infrastructure-projects threaten the nature. Only then situations get out of control within society.
Small-scale youngster crime happens everywhere.

Robberies are half the amount than in UK.
Housebreakings 3 times less than in UK.
Registered violence incidents 5 times less than in UK.
Homicides are same in UK and Germany.

More people are educated.

Government is involved with every aspect of business.

You don't see companies "fleeing" Germany because their corporate tax is too high. You don't see the rich taking their money and leaving because they don't like the tax rate. You don't see them slashing funding for education.

Please dont compare Germany to the UK. The UK is quite unique in Europe and far far more like the US than any other country in Europe.

Yes Germany is not as violent as the UK, but then again so is most of western Europe....And also, crime statistics need to be taken with a huge grain of salt so to say... as the different laws in different countries and different reporting methods and standards easily skew the statistics on most crimes... only one that is pretty much universal is murder.

If you want to compare them to someone in Europe, then compare them to the French, Danes, Spanish, or Italians... the UK is a whole different ball of wax and has been since forever.
