Germany shows us why Republican policies will ALWAYS "fail".

Well, that and lots of exports to China and a currency which is far too cheap relative to the rest of Europe.

Plus, in an American context, the CDU isn't right-wing. They're kind of like Clinton Democrats, only with universal socialized medicine and no death penalty.

I am aware of that. In fact, I've made the same comment quite often on the board.

Could you go get an example?

No, sweetie. You can do that for yourself, lazy twit.

Germany has a currency "which is far too cheap relative to the rest of Europe"?
How's that?

If the DM still existed, it would be 20%-30% above the euro, just like the drachma would be 50% below the euro.

But it doesn't...so it's not.

hahahahahahahaaha

How many timnes did Reagan raise taxes?

How many times did democrats promise to cut spending.

HACK!!!

So it seems Reagan made the country all perfecty by causing massive debt and raising taxes.

Then why do you hate debt and taxes yet love Reagan?

You would be fun to debate with if you had some level of intelligence. But day in and day out you demonstrate common sense is something you gave up for lent.

The education in German is way different from the education in the US. In Germany they have the concept of "failure". When German students graduate they have a real education in all core subjects. When Germans go to work, they are required to really work. Goofing off is not a disability protected by the ADA.

Thanks to our Progressive educational system NYC spend $18,000 per High School student and only 1/6 can even perform at "College" level, the rest either drop out or are just too stupid to attend college without remedial education.

We need to close the Department of Education the very first chance we get.

The adjusted level of joblessness has now fallen to 2.92 million people, or 6.9 percent, the lowest for 20 years. The figures also show how Germany, Europe’s largest economy and one of the world’s leading export-driven economies, has fully recovered from the financial crisis of 2008, when almost 3.2 million people were registered as unemployed.

Figures from the labor agency showed that fewer companies were still working with short-time workers, especially the automobile industry, which has been lifted by growth in the Chinese market and the expansion there of the luxury car market as the middle class expands.

-----------------------------

Remember, Germany had to absorb another "entire" country, East Germany, after the collapse of the USSR. They are also being counted on to bail out other European countries.

Germany has almost no natural resources, yet, they are a leading exporter and have the worlds 5h largest economy.

They live longer.

Take more vacations.

The middle class is buying "luxury" cars.

They work fewer hours.

Everyone is covered by health care.

More people are educated.

They are a democratic country.

They have fast rail.

They are are using renewable energy.

They have the most strict laws in Europe for clean air and clean water.

The rich and the middle class are much closer together.

Government is involved with every aspect of business.

Government, Universities and Business works together.

It was only a couple of years before I was born the US was rebuilding Germany. Now, Republicans won't even let us rebuild this country. You don't see companies "fleeing" Germany because their corporate tax is too high. You don't see the rich taking their money and leaving because they don't like the tax rate. You don't see them slashing funding for education.

GOP Plans for America:

Slash education.

End Social Security.

End Medicare.

No infrastructure improvements.

End Romneycare.

Tax cuts for billionaires.

Subsidies for corporations.

If the Republican Plan is to turn us into a third world country, it's working. On the news, it was mentioned that at the Conservative Women's Convention in Kansas last week, 60% said they didn't believe in evolution. I never met a German who didn't believe in evolution. What does that have to do with anything? It's part of science and education.

Since I was boirn here and actually stationed here I can agree that this is the case.

The term German Engineering still means something. We assume that German Engineering results in a quality product. American engineering not so much. That's why it's never used as a selling point. The French have a guaranteed job. They can't be fired no matter how badly they perform. Made in France isn't exactly gonna sell a car.

If my grandmother had wheels she would be a tricycle.

You realize that the party that has run Germany for the last several years is not the SDP but the CDU/CSU conservative coalition? In other words, the German version of the Republican party has been in power since November of 2005.

The CDU/CSU is nothing like the Repug Party in the United States, they see the Republican Party as far right, you don't know shat about Germany, their political system is different, the CDU/CSU cannot take power without forming a coalition with other parties so there issome copromise on somethings and not the deadlock, all or nothing shat we have in America.

no way, there is no party in germany that can be compared to the republican party.

well maybe the npd. lol

Yeah, more like a combination of the FDP and NPD in Germany, the CDU and CSU would be called RINOS in America.

I was assuming that's why the OP put "fail" in quotes... because a right wing Government has successfully pulled Germany out of recession.

You are so fucking dumb, the CDU/CSU are not rightwingers in Germany, the NPD are rightwingers, the closest party that Germany has to the Republican type rightwingers is the FDP and they have talen a thrashing these few years, even the Nazi NPD gained more votes than the FDP, but in the former East Germany where the NPD is more likely to be found.

Yes, it does.

The whole crisis in Europe right now is based on the immutable fact that the euro is too weak for the German and other northern countries and too strong for the southern countries.

Yes, Germany benefits from a weak Euro.

Yes, Greece is hurt by a strong Euro.

Kind of hard for Germany to have a currency cheap compared to the rest of Europe when Europe share the same currency.

I think he was thinking of China.

It could just be that Germany is doing better because their government is comparatively more sensible.

A list of European states by GDP growth.
I have no idea of political ideologies by state during the relavant time period.

No. The strength of the German economy is such that if it still had it's own currency, it would be much higher relative to the euro.
It is the same piece of paper in all states. The Euro pretty much ended the discussion of relative currency strengths, as the paper is fully fungible across all borders, and people and goods can move across all borders without hindrance. How can the identical thing have two different strengths in the different places?

FDP is not rightwing, its current chairman is a Vietnamese immigrant.
It is capitalist and liberal, pro Homosexuals and such kind of things.

"The Republicans" are the CSU. They stand against abortion, against Homosexuals, and they've a truly Catholic worldview.
