    during a single attack on the Somme in July 1916.

    (Already knew it was a carnage -the 21,000 was mentioned in an article about the last American WW1 vet passing away)

    With poison gas and all that: true WMD in WW1.

    Not freaking roadside bombs like in Afg.

    Oh and they had mines in WW1 also.
