For the record, I was 17 at the time. I was in my 12th grade shop class in the basement of my high school when it was announced over the intercom. It was Friday, and we had all been looking forward to Thanksgiving break the following week. Thanksgiving was celebrated on November 28 that year – the following Thursday.
