Gay marriage shows our failing democracy

step #1 the media. all these stupid programs and news stories saying "it's all about two people who love each other"
they left out the pervert life style,

Please explain how marriage is a "pervert lifestyle".

step #3 get gay marriage passed through the California election, most likely a rigged election..
wow! all of the sudden, after 240 years, gay marriage gets passed in 37 states.
Gay marriage is not legal in 37 states. It hasn't been ever since 2013. Lower Courts do not enjoy the power of overruling Windsor 2013 in ways that directly defy the SCOTUS on specific questions of law. SCOTUS found in 2013 that states have the say on gay marriage until/unless further notice. That notice is being weighed now as we speak.

So as of Windsor 2013, the only states that have legal gay marriage outside the 11 and DC that were mentioned in Windsor 2013 as the only states with legal gay marriage (indicating their unspoken Decision that indeed it was up to state law at the end of their Writing...and that California wasn't one of those states since it would have been the 13th which was not included in the opinion) are the ones who came about it in legitimate due process/elections and so forth. All those lower federal appelate court judgments aren't worth the paper they're written on. Never have been. That isn't how due process works in the federal appelate system. Lower courts don't get to play fortune-teller and anticipate how they think "SCOTUS will overturn itself anyway" and overrule Them from underneath.

California has never had legal gay marriage. The initiative/Constitutional law stands today as it always has: "Between one man ane one woman". That isn't a ban, it's a definition. And it's the Law unless/until the citizens there vote a new initiative in that repeals it. Public officials do not enjoy the right to deny enforcing it either. There are Constitutional mandates for them to enforce initiative law even if they deeply don't want to. They either enforce or step down from office.

California shot down gay marriage.
then they had to regroup.

they left out the pervert life style, they forgot to mention the parallel with child molestation (not PC to talk about)
in the olden days, homosexuals used to trash marriage, now, all of the sudden, they're all pro-marriage.
media propaganda, and they take they're little polls to see how many people they fooled, once they hit 30% to 40%, time to push ahead.
step #2 get signatures to place it on the ballot (after just being shot down) , probably mostly fake signatures.
they told us "people in Europe accepted gay marriage years ago, they don't understand your thinking"

gay marriage gets passed in England (remember how we were behind Europe?)
the other states are holding out, now the goons on the Supreme Court are deciding whether they want to force states to accept gay marriage from other states, or whether they want to declare it a civil right, and force every state to recognize.
this is not democracy from the ground up, this is dictatorship from the top down.
Democracy from the ground up would never pass gay marriage in every state, at the same time.
homosexuals don't care about getting married, the goal is to force the USA, and other countries, to accept homosexuality as a nation.
the government got involved with marriage through licenses and tax breaks.
the only solution is to remove government from marriage completely.
when marriage goes back to a religion institution, then we'll see how much gays want to get married
This is how countries die.

Yet you folks can never manage to actually point to any countries that have 'died' this way.

You looking forward to another first?

That will come as a surprise to everyone in those 37 states- especially the people who have gotten married, and the ones issuing the licenses to them.

Unlike you folks, I think the United States is a wonderful place and still the strongest country in the world.

I'm still waiting for someone to explain how marriage is a "pervert lifestyle".

And it's good for you and your kind that all those teachers, soldiers, cops, firefighters, judges and everyday citizen have kept this country strong.

OBTW: None of the above were born as the result of a same sex coupling.

You can thank us at any time now.

The whole issue of gay marriage really is undemocratic because democracy is suppose to allow individuals to retain there individualness which is why we will always have a majority and ninority on all issues. A ruling against gay marriage would signal that society is accepting it but once that connection is made individuals will always feel pressured into going along with the popular view at any moment. There have been many people who have said that once the Supreme Court strikes down gay marriage bans religions would begin to accept it. How does society have such a power over any private religion. The power to influence it's dogmas and beliefs. Could we actually say that religions are free to believe whatever they want at that point?

The arguments against interracial marriage (used by judges years ago)

1) First, judges claimed that marriage belonged under the control of the states rather than the federal government.

2) Second, they began to define and label all interracial relationships (even longstanding, deeply committed ones) as illicit sex rather than marriage.

3) Third, they insisted that interracial marriage was contrary to God's will, and

4) Fourth, they declared, over and over again, that interracial marriage was somehow "unnatural."

Sound familiar?

1 true and still is

2 irrelevant

3 false

4 ?

I wish people would stop making things up.
