Gaetz's speeches against McCarthy hand Democrats fresh campaign material

This week, speeches by Rep. Matt Gaetz (R-Fla.) on the House floor have offered a bounty of new ad material for the Biden campaign and Democrats to exploit ahead of the next election.

Here's some of what Gaetz has said:

On Biden's age: "It is going to be difficult for my Republican colleagues to keep calling President Biden feeble while he continues to take Speaker McCarthy's lunch money in every negotiation."

On the impeachment inquiry: "It is difficult to champion oversight when House Republicans haven't even sent a subpoena to Hunter Biden. So it's hard to make the argument that oversight is the reason to continue when it sort of looks like failure theater."

On fundraising: "I take no lecture on asking patriotic Americans to weigh in and contribute to this fight from those who would grovel and bend knee to the lobbyists and special interests who own our leadership."

On the GOP agenda: "If this House of Representatives has exceeded all expectations, then we definitely need higher expectations."

You know, you really can't argue with that. Sometimes, even Gaetz speaks the truth. Who knew?

Gaetz spoke harshly. That doesn’t mean he wasn’t justified. It also doesn’t mean that he was exactly wrong.

All of the Dims are bought and paid for by special interests. And too many of the Republicans are, too.

So, go ahead and use the truth. It would be refreshing to see Dims being honest for a change.

Gaetz and some others (including Democrats) are trying to fix that, and they have a good chance at it.

Not an overwhelming chance, but a decent chance at least.

He might want some other things that you don't want, but you should get behind the single item vote thing.

The other things he wants can always be said "no" to, while good things could be said "yes" to.

It's good for all Americans.

No, it isn't. It is only good for Gaetz.

If the government shutdown had happened, his constituents would have been affected. Being in Congress means helping people. And you do that by negotiating with others. That is the way to get roads, bridges etc. built in your district.

But if you are there just to make a name for yourself, then all you have to do is throw a tantrum and like a child, you will get your way but in the long run it is the constituents who suffer. And that is no way to represent them.
