After the Civil War, when the Union freed the slaves, they sure did not want them to be released into society. So they considered them captured enemy contraband. Millions were put into Contraband Camps. Many of them starved to death and died of disease. This is basically covered up. Who knows how many died in these camps? But this article says it was at least hundreds of thousands...
