We will not obey Christian leaders threaten civil disobedience if Supreme Court legalizes gay marriage Fox News

There is a short video at the Fox link where two attorneys are asked about some of the questions that the SC judges are asking during the arguments that are being heard.

Heather Hanson talks about how the Supremes can justify a decision essentially for SSM, using the "due process" clause of the 14th amendment, or the "equal protection" clause. Of course, many who are against SSM would say that this line of argumentation leads to the slippery slope to poligamy and bestiality - at least that is the chatter I have been seeing a lot of.

Robert Bianchi made an entirely different point, a very good point about strategy. This is worth watching. It's worth the click. I think he made a very good point.

Now to some of the text from the article itself:

“We will not obey.”

That’s the blunt warning a group of prominent religious leaders is sending to the Supreme Court of the United States as they consider same-sex marriage.

“We respectfully warn the Supreme Court not to cross that line,” read a document titled, Pledge in Solidarity to Defend Marriage. “We stand united together in defense of marriage. Make no mistake about our resolve.”

“While there are many things we can endure, redefining marriage is so fundamental to the natural order and the common good that this is the line we must draw and one we cannot and will not cross,” the pledge states.

The signees are a who’s who of religious leaders including former Arkansas Gov. Mike Huckabee, former U.S. Senator Rick Santorum, National Religious Broadcasters president Jerry Johnson, Pastor John Hagee, and Franklin Graham, president and CEO of the Billy Graham Evangelistic Association and Samaritan’s Purse.

The pledge was co-drafted by Deacon Keith Fournier, a Catholic deacon, and Mat Staver, the founder of Liberty Counsel. Also involved in the document were Rick Scarborough, the president of Vision America Action and James Dobson, the founder of Family Talk Radio.

So, two likely GOP presidential candidates have signed the pledge.

Feel free to discuss. But watch the video.

Oh no, they're signing pledges again?

:rolleyes-41:

.

Yeah, what is with that?

Don't pols know that when they do that, they back themselves into a corner with at least one group of people. Unfortunately for the GOP candidates, if they DON'T sign it, then back themselves into an even bigger corner with their base.

Oh, well, maybe the GOP nominee can etch-a-sketch it away after his clown coronation. Because we all know how well that worked out for Mitt Romney.

:rolleyes-41:

I hereby pledge to never sign pledges!!!

:D

You think maybe they will riot? Damn it would be funny to see all those chubby church people trying to be a public nuisance.

Inexplicable.

"Okay, sign here, paralyze yourself politically and paint a target on your back, you'll love it."

I don't get it.
