Exclusive: Food Stamp Recipients Outnumber Populations of 24 States Combined
by Wynton Hall
23 Nov 2012
An analysis by Breitbart News has found that the number of individuals on food stamps now exceeds the combined populations of 24 states and the District of Columbia.
In November, the U.S. Department of Agriculture reported that a record 47,102,780 individuals receive food stamps.
According to US. Census Bureau data, that figure exceeds the combined populations of: Alaska, Arkansas, Connecticut, Delaware, District of Columbia, Hawaii, Idaho, Iowa, Kansas, Maine, Mississippi, Montana, Nebraska, Nevada, New Hampshire, New Mexico, North Dakota, Oklahoma, Oregon, Rhode Island, South Dakota, Utah, Vermont, West Virginia, and Wyoming.
Since January 2009, the number of individuals on food stamps has skyrocketed from 31.9 million to the current record high 47.1 million. By comparison, in 1969 just 2.8 million Americans received food stamps.
Last year, the food stamp program (officially known as the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program or SNAP) cost taxpayers $72 billion, more than double the $30 billion spent four years ago.

Would you feel better, personally, if all those recipients simply did without?
I'd personally feel better if they were all able to work and didn't need food stamps, however this administration seems hell bent on keeping them on stamps.
From 2001 to 2008, millions of jobs were moved to China. Worse, the Republican base hates education, thinking it's for snobs. It's why so many get food stamps. Obama wants them fed, Republicans couldn't care less if their own base starves.
Millions? Prove it.
And if the private sector won't provide them, we raise taxes like FDR did and have the government provide them.
Over four years ago, when do the Democrats take responsibility?

Over four years ago, when do the Democrats take responsibility?
Not a democrat.
Bush and the Federal Reserve Board caused the major depression. When Obama took over during his first term , the economy had hit rock bottom..
But typical fascist, Obama did exactly what FDR did in 1935, thereby prolonging the recession.

.
Then you would know that this last recession was started over 80 years ago. We rode bubble after bubble, Congress after Congress of screw ups, the Republicans didn't start this recession, just as the Democrats didn't, it was a culmination of two party's running us into the ground.
The only reason I said what I said before, is that if people want to blame one party or the other, then they need to take responsibility for cleaning it up. Which still hasn't happened yet.
One of Obama's "successes".Exclusive: Food Stamp Recipients Outnumber Populations of 24 States Combined

Work may be a four letter word but there is no dishonor in it.
Do you have any idea how many of those people collecting food stamps ARE working? This is what happens when you have a minimum wage that has the lowest spending power in history. We, the taxpayers, are in effect supplementing the wages for corporations like Walmart. They refuse to pay their employees a living wage, so their employees qualify for assistance which we the taxpayer provide.

a living wage, what do you say that should be?
I work for a school district and they start a person out at 9.50 an hour..one year we got a 25cent raise..

A living wage: enough for a cheap apartment, clothes, food, housing, utilities, medical care and transportation for one person.
