There is long-established precedent that gives the executive immunity from civil suits regarding official acts, and Clinton v. Jones established that the executive is not immune from civil suits regarding unofficial acts occurring prior to his Presidency.

There is, as far as I know, no precedent regarding civil suits over unofficial acts taken while serving as President.
