The problem with this statistic is that 1) when blacks/Hispanics/etc. commit hate crimes, they aren't counted as such by the police. 9/11 was a hate crime, but that's not counted. Also, when Hispanics COMMIT crime, they're counted as "white", but when they're victims, they're counted as "Hispanic". I'd also note that whites are more likely to "declare" racial animus... blacks and Hispanics just DO THE CRIME AGAINST THE WHITE VICTIM, but don't "declare" their racial animus.

Given all this, I'm surprised the figures for whites aren't even higher.
