Based on your chart - 49% of the majors are fluffy, including education. Not worth it to pay $150k in tuition to become a teacher making $40k per year IMO.
The math is ridiculous. Go to Community College and State School. If Ivy Leagues and “prestigious” schools where they pay $400k for professors to teach one class is still that important to you, then you can try for scholarships and aid to help you get their but don’t go into egregious debt for it.

Even Mac talks about the lowering of standards and expectations. Telling people they don't have to pay their bills and that someone else will pay them seems to qualify as lowering standards.

Paying for it yourself is great and help is good....but people need to be held accountable for their loan choices and the amount of debt they assume. I have focused on saving for my children’s education since they were born. It is not being a whiner to question why someone gets rewarded for not having their shit together by going $150K in debt to major in a field(s) that will not yield salaries sufficient to live on and pay down the debt. This reminds me of the housing crisis where people were recklessly getting high 6 digit loans despite the financial criteria suggesting they should have been capped at low 6 digit loans.
