FACT CHECK: Shaky health care job loss estimate

No, America is getting raped by the asinine presumption that the best way to pay for something that's relatively expensive, is to have a third party do the paying.

Once you bury that foolhardy notion, the rest is pretty much gravy.

So you're in favor of single-payer then?
facepalm_implied.jpg

Thought so.

FYI, a simple yes is sufficient next time.

Lol..

So naive.

Yes, this is referring to the actual "job numbers" assuming all things are equal...such as population size.

However, your article does not bring into the equation the lack of corporate "growth" that will exist....something the GOP has been discussing as the biggest issue as are many companies and their lobbyists.

That is another issue as it pertains to jobs seeing as we have an ever increasing population.

Your reporter, instead of looking for the truth, simply found a way to call Boehner a spinner.

Well, of course he spins. All politicians spin.

We would like the truth....not who is spinning what...

We want the WHOLE TRUTH.
Sure, you do......

“So Sambo beat the bitch!”

This is how Republican Vice presidential nominee Sarah Palin described Barack Obama’s win over Hillary Clinton to political colleagues in a restaurant a few days after Obama locked up the Democratic Party presidential nomination."

Just STFU...It's beyond obvious, to anyone with any business, accounting and/or economic acumen that you're in impossibly over your head.

You're really far to ignorant to be embarrassed.

Ignorance is bliss I guess.

If it's so obvious to a superior intellect such as yourself, why don't you explain it to the dumbasses like me exactly how jobs will be killed....specifically.

I'm confused because a self proclaimed expert recently told me that jobs would actually be created because of Obamacare. Who do I believe?

One can say the same about the Democrats attitude of 'pass it to see what's in it' bullshit.

Failure from one side.

Failure from the other side.

Yet, again, you call out these mythical 'republitards' and remain silent about the other side.... the one's who you claim you are politically opposed to.

Hypocrisy is hypocrisy.

Republitards kept calling the health care law "job killing" legislation because they misinterpreted and distorted a CBO report, what you just said is non-sequitir, at least have the heart to woman up instead of playing that retarded "Democrats do the same" argument.

It is job killing as well.
You just dont want to hear it.
Show everyone where....and, how....or, admit you've got your head up-your-ass, and shut-the-fuck-up.

LOL! So because healthcare reform will make it easier for people to obtain health insurance on their own without having to get it through their job and thus they don't have to work as much (voluntarily) that's job loss now?? Bwahahahahahaah.

no - actually the increased costs that employers will be required to cover will directly lead to fewer hires. Come on people, this is not that hard to understand. If you increase the cost of an employee you WILL decrease the number of employees. That is a simple fact and easy to understand. You may believe that the increased costs will lead to job losses that are acceptable for the coverage that is offered to the many but the LEAST you can do is understand and acknowledge the cost that is paid. HERE is the underlying problem with social programs that are pushed in this nation - people seem to forget that ALL actions have their results and that those results MUST be taken into account and weighed vs the gains. If you believe that the lost jobs are secondary to the gains in healthcare then at least ADMIT IT.

I for one have other reasons that I cannot support the healthcare bill.

the forum Republitards are tapdancing around the issue so let me simplify things a bit, Boehner and the rest of the Republitards have been claiming that the health care bill is going to cause 650,000 jobs to be taken away thus they called the health care bill "job killing," even though their rhetoric is based on a misinterpretation of a CBO report. Despite this, the forum Republitards keep insisting right along with the GOPtards that the health care bill is job killing with basically no proof to back this claim, so whats the deal? Are you going to willfully believe and promote lies because of your retarded partisan brains and brainwashing by the GOPtards?

Republitards ought to just give it up on the scaremongering tactics that have absolutely no basis in fact, even the sources they cite as evidence don't say match up with what they spew.

You really want to argue in defense of the ACA? I bet you believe the lie the Democrats are spouting that repealing it will increase the deficit.

For starters, that $1 trillion price is a low-ball estimate, covering only six – not ten – years of subsidies that don't begin until 2014. The uninsured were clearly less of a priority than the deception of making the law look less expensive than it really is over its first decade. Over ten years of full implementation, it's more like $2.3 trillion. Next up is the CLASS Act (for the Community Living Assistance Services and Supports Act) providing a new long-term care insurance entitlement. CLASS hitched a ride on the ACA for one reason only: premiums are collected in the first ten years, but no benefits are provided. Voila, it creates the perception of $70 billion in deficit reduction. In fact, CLASS is a bailout waiting to happen, as it will attract mainly sick enrollees. Only in Washington could the creation of a reckless entitlement program be used as "offset" to grease the way for another entitlement.
The deepest spending cuts in the ACA are in Medicare. Let us be very clear: Medicare needs real reform that generates genuine budget savings. Sadly, the ACA's cuts are illusory. Medicare's payments to health care providers would fall below those of Medicaid. The network of hospitals and physicians willing to care for Medicaid patients is notoriously constrained. About 15 percent of the nation's hospitals would have to stop seeing Medicare patients in just a few years to stem their losses. The idea that Medicare could pay less than Medicaid is such sheer folly that Congress will rapidly reverse course. What's worse, ACA's advocates are double-counting this fictional savings, claiming it can pay both for the ACA's entitlements and Medicare solvency too. The truth is, these cuts cannot be relied upon to pay for anything.
The fantasy of deficit reduction from the ACA is also built on a $410 billion tax increase over the coming decade, and a flood of revenue in the years after built on cynically replicating the flawed AMT-style revenue creep. New Medicare taxes initially apply only to individuals with incomes over $200,000 and couples with incomes above $250,000. But those income thresholds do not rise with inflation, so more and more families will pay them each year. Similarly, the new "Cadillac tax" on expensive insurance applies to premiums for family coverage above $27,500 in 2018, but that threshold will rise with general inflation, not medical costs. It's particularly noteworthy that this tax is instrumental to the claim of deficit reduction in the second decade, but it is so controversial that Barack Obama was never willing to collect it himself. Overall, CBO says the ACA's tax hikes will reach 1.2 percent of GDP in 2035, or a whopping $180 billion annually in today's terms.

Health Care Repeal Won't Add to the Deficit - WSJ.com

It is so sad that people believe the lies politicians tell.

GOP Leadership Intentionally Distorting Obamacare As Job Killer

As we get ready for this week’s vote to repeal health care reform, it’s a good time to review the substance behind the claims that are at the center of the GOP opposition – opposition that has taken shape in the bill to be introduced this week entitled, “Repealing the Job Killing Health Care Law Act.”

The Republican case is laid out in a document published on January 6th, under the authorship of the House GOP leadership and named, “Obamacare: A budget-busting, job-killing health care law.”

It’s an interesting document and well worth reading.

Indeed, the GOP arguments put forth in the study would be truly compelling were it not for the fact that the claims made are so astonishingly dishonest that it takes but a few hours of research to disprove and discredit virtually every substantial claim they make. If you question this, and I know many of you will, I have carefully provided links to each and every document and report the GOP has relied upon so that you may read these authorities for yourself.

Maestro…if you will…a little fact checking music.

The repeal argument kicks off with the following -

“The health care law will cause significant job losses for the U.S. economy. The Congressional Budget Office has determined that the law will reduce the “amount of labor used in the economy by … roughly half a percent…, an estimate that adds up to roughly 650,000 jobs lost.”

If this dramatic statement were true, it would be a pretty persuasive condemnation of Obamacare. The thing is, the CBO report in question, issued in August of 2010, most certainly does not predict the loss of 650,000 jobs.

<snip>

To be fair, the GOP report does not focus solely on the CBO. They also rely on a study conducted by the National Federation of Independent Business to support their claim that 1.6 million jobs stand to be lost thanks to Obamcare.

The Jan 6th House GOP Leadership report (cited above) states: “A study by the National Federation of Independent Businesses (NFIB), the nation’s largest small business association, found that an employer mandate alone could lead to the elimination of 1.6 million jobs between 2009 and 2014, with 66 percent of those coming from small businesses.”

Again, pretty persuasive – or it would be if it were not for the fact that the NFIB report was published in Jan., 2009 – over a year before the passage of Obamacare – and was based on a hypothetical employer mandate that has virtually nothing in common with the law that was actually passed

<snip>

The truth is that nobody yet knows whether the health care reform law will result in net job creation or net job loss. My suspicion is that it may be a break-even proposition or, possibly, a net plus considering how many positions are likely to be created in the health care industry.

GOP Leadership Intentionally Distorting Obamacare As Job Killer - Rick Ungar - The Policy Page - Forbes

I think the last paragraph from the Forbes article says it all,,nobody really knows.

So we have the right say one thing and the left say something the opposite and in real life both are just throwing shit on the wall to see if it sticks.

In other words,,BEWARE OF POLITICIANS WHO WILL SAY ANYTHING!

No one really knows the exact numbers, but everyone, including the Democrats, know that there will be job loss. Is your beef that no one can predict the future, or that you don't like the future that everyone is predicting?

But you seem to trust politicians or entities who have something to gain or lose.
Before Obamacare was even a pipe-dream, many companies were already downsizing the employee heathcare plans. Healthcare insurance companies were already raising the premiums multiple times the inflation rate.
I've stated this way too many times, I'm not for Obamacare BUT I am for healthcare reform. The cost escalation of healthcare is outrageous.
I just thought I should state the above, so I don't end up being called a socialist!
The bottom-line? America is getting raped by the healthcare industry (Which is the sector I work in).
No, America is getting raped by the asinine presumption that the best way to pay for something that's relatively expensive, is to have a third party do the paying.

Once you bury that foolhardy notion, the rest is pretty much gravy.

So you're in favor of single-payer then?

How is single payer not a third party paying for health care? Are you deliberately lying, or are you just stupid?

Ohhh dear, if you look in the upper right hand corner of your answer on "Fact" Check, you will see that they are owned and operated by the Annenberg Foundation.

It was the Annenberg foundation that gave Obama and a committee he chaired 50 Million dollars to fix the schools in south Chicago. Everyone got a piece of that money but the kids and the rate of highschool drop outs in South Chicago (Obama's pride and Joy) never changed. But Obama did have ton of money and it was then that he went into politics. It was then that the Reverend Wright retired to an affluent white neighborhood with three million dollars.

So, when it says "Fact", look at who brought the alleged fact to you. The Annenberg group has an agenda.

One thing did go up among teens and children in South Chicago, murder. Remember Jennifer Hudson's little brother? That is a common thing in the south chicago area. Obama has a lot to be proud of.

In my experience, I'd go with the latter.
