Sigh. Cyprian, Irenaeus , and other Church Fathers were talking about their days of persecution and tribulation not about the future.
There is no doctrine of The Rapture developed before 1830, but if it gives one comfort, act today as if the world ends tomorrow. You will be fine then.
Why doesn't Dr. John Gill qualify?
Because Dr. Gill is not talking about The Rapture as you understand or as Tom Ice or Dr. LaHaye believes that it was taught in the Scriptures.
Gill's terminology for rising of the living Saints to join the Saints who have passed before is not The Rapture as you understand it.
Go read Dr. Gill in his entirety, and you will see that Ice and LaHaye are picking words but not the meaning of Gill.
