As of this writing, France is paralyzed. By the time you read this, it might be in flames.

In Britain, where politics is more polite but the problems are perhaps just as dire, the government is proposing budget cuts on a scale not seen for nearly a century.

All of these countries — and many more — are going through painful retrenchments because they spent too much money, made too many promises, and expected too little from their citizens. This should present a real problem for Barack Obama and the vast (though shrinking) chorus of experts, editorialists, and activists who support his agenda. In broad terms, all of the policies Obama and the Democrats have pushed are the sorts of policies the British, the French, and other Europeans had for years, even decades.

As far as I am aware, no one has asked President Obama a simple question: If your philosophy is so great, how come the countries that have embraced it for generations are so much poorer than we are?

Oh I think France will survive.

The French electorate are much more demonstative than the Americans.

It doesn't take all that much before the French are willing to show their displeasure with their government by mass strikes and rioting.

The USA might be better off if we emulated the French people's contempt for the government in that respect.

But we don't have a history of cutting the heads off bad government officials like the French, so we're not as apt to take to the streets as they are.

We think our guns will protect us from bad government.

The French make due with cobblestones they dig up from the streets.

I don't think they're being stiched up. I think they're just being stupid, aren't they?

I don't even think most of them know what they're protesting about.

They were given three options to collect enough pension money to pay OAPs - either to reduce pensions, increase contributions, or to work for longer. Even the Unions recognised that the money had to come from somewhere. The problem is that none of them could decide which was the preferred solution.

Since the French couldn't get a majority agreement on any of the three options, they unanimously opted for Plan D, which mostly involved doing fuck all for days on end and bringing the country to a standstill, which is precisely what got them into this mess.

Most of the action is now being fronted by students anyway, who mainly protest because it's a sexual ritual.

So, when you focus on the details, you realise that they're not the brightest people in the world.

He never said there was a link between 'violent protest' and tea-partiers. He just said 'protest.' There is such a thing as peaceful protest, if you even watched the video, only 2,000 out of 7,000,000 were arrested for violence, so he wasn't just referring to the arrested.

You are so eager to slam someone with your words, that you are imagining words that aren't really there. I think you got a little exposed on this one. For someone who insults everyone as being "unintelligent," you might want to check yourself before submitting your reply.

How can anyone compare a peaceful Tea Party rally to what they are doing in Europe.??

I guess it kinda sucks when the nanny country can't take care of you from cradle to grave anymore.

When you have young folks who think they should be guaranteed a job as in France.
Where you can't be fired. Yeah. I could see where that would kinda suck.

They are finding out that this form of Govt is unsustainable. You eventually have more folks taking than contributing. You eventually run out of everyones money.

I will be very interested to see how this all works out for Socialist Europe.
