Ephesians 6:12 NIV

For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms.
It has always been the case. In historical times God did intervene. It seems the world is behaving as it did right before the fall of the roman empire. Will God intervene and what Countries are still faithful?

Is it God before government or when in Rome do as the Romans do?

An interesting discussion point

Let's start with the phrase: "When in Rome, do as the Romans do."

Wikipedia says (and one shouldn't blindly take Wikipedia for absolute truth on anything, but it's a starting point for discussion):

When in Rome, do as the Romans do[1] (Medieval Latin sī fuerīs Rōmae, Rōmānō vīvitō mōre; sī fuerīs alibī, vīvitō sīcut ibī; often shortened to when in Rome...),[2] or a later version when in Rome, do as the Pope does,[3] is a proverb attributed to Saint Ambrose. The proverb means that it is best to follow the traditions or customs of a place being visited.

Saint Monica and her son, Saint Augustine, discovered that Saturday was observed as a fast day in Rome, where they planned to visit. However, it was not a fast day where they lived in Milan. They consulted Saint Ambrose who said "When I am here (in Milan) I do not fast on Saturday, when in Rome I do fast on Saturday".

That reply is said to have brought about the saying "When in Rome, do as the Romans do".[4][5]

Now some would back up this notion with Romans 13:1-8...

Let every soul be subject to the governing authorities. For there is no authority except from God, and the authorities that exist are appointed by God. 2 Therefore whoever resists the authority resists the ordinance of God, and those who resist will bring judgment on themselves. 3 For rulers are not a terror to good works, but to evil. Do you want to be unafraid of the authority? Do what is good, and you will have praise from the same. 4 For he is God’s minister to you for good. But if you do evil, be afraid; for he does not bear the sword in vain; for he is God’s minister, an avenger to execute wrath on him who practices evil. 5 Therefore you must be subject, not only because of wrath but also for conscience’ sake. 6 For because of this you also pay taxes, for they are God’s ministers attending continually to this very thing. 7 Render therefore to all their due: taxes to whom taxes are due, customs to whom customs, fear to whom fear, honor to whom honor.

Now this is often used to trap Christians into blind submission to authorities that can and are often wrong and oppressive.

Jesus would be tested on this by those seeking to test and end his ministry, such as found in the account in Matthew 22 (also found in Mark 12 and Luke 20) when the Pharisee hypocrites asked of Jesus it was lawful to pay taxes to Caesar hoping to trap him and Jesus responded "Render therefore to Caesar the things that are Caesar's and to God the things that are to God's."

When it is proper to defy governing authorities, you can look at an example in the Old Testament, in the book of Daniel, where Daniel would defy the authorities by not defiling himself with the king's food or wine. Then we find Daniel's friends, called Shadrach, Meshack, and Abed-Nego, would defy the authorities by not bowing before a golden idol.

Now Christians don't have license to do what they well please, such as driving 55 miles an hour in a school zone with children milling about. There are laws that are reasonable to abide by. We do want to be salt and light in the world and not seen as defiant anarchists, to bring people closer to the Kingdom of God. But also, "Be not conformed to this world." (Romans 12:2).

Be in the world, but not of this world. (See John 15:19 as well as many other passages in the Gospel of John)

But as it says in Proverbs 29:2:
When the righteous are in authority, the people rejoice; But when a wicked man rules, the people groan.

Now back to the question of God intervening, He intervenes on personal levels, which people will offer their testimonies. On a larger scale, will He intervene or is the Rapture as described in the Bible come soon, time will tell. Sometimes there's no telling how He has been intervening without our knowledge, as things may have been worse (e.g., wars and terrorism on a much larger scale) if not for the prayer of the saints. But how long before He enacts His final judgment, again, time will tell.

Scripture teaches us about the signs of the end times and I believe we are fast approaching that, and have been since Israel reemerged as a nation in 1948. G-d's intervention won't be to save countries, but to exact His Holy and Righteous Judgement against a sinful and wicked world that refuses to repent.

In the old days, he talked to Leaders or God put people he chose in Authority positions. I pray for the World every day. I think it s God before the government but follow the laws that are also usually aligned with the commandments as well. Not to murder, steal, etc. Some sins are legal and still a commandment not to behave in those ways. It would be very stressful to be a world leader today and back in historical times, I feel leaders relied on God more than they do now. Do people realize the world is a dark place? We should pray constantly for each other and the world.

Do you think Artificial Intelligence is much like the serpent trying to distract people from God, eat this false information from the internet? I mean "apple" computer/knowledge. :dunno:

If God is helping leaders I haven't heard any give God credit. Historically in biblical times, Leaders gave God credit for helping. The world is in a very bad condition.

The world is behaving as it did before the great flood of Noah and later in the lands of Sodom & Gomorrah. Matthew 24 promises that Christ and His angels will return and clean up this mess. The world will be cleansed by fire.

If you know Christ, then you should know at least basic Eschatology, or end time events as well. Isaiah, Daniel, and Revelation all spell out what is yet to come, that there will arise a great and powerful world leader, and for seven years, Christians and Jews become public enemy #1 and are persecuted in a way that makes Hitler's Third Reich look like a Boy Scout Jamboree. The good news is those who already know G-d through Moshiach, will be raptured or "taken" from this world before what is known as "Daniel's Seventieth Week" or the "Great Tribulation" begins.

What makes you think that God gives a rat's nether region about any earthly gubbermint?

"And in the days of those kings the God of heaven will set up a kingdom that shall never be destroyed, nor shall the kingdom be left to another people. It shall break in pieces all these kingdoms and bring them to an end, and it shall stand forever"
Daniel 2:44

Governments have a DUTY to God just as individuals do. He calls government "His Servants" to administer JUSTICE. He WILL hold governments responsible. Nations like ours who have a Covenant relationship with God even more so.

This country WILL NOT SURVIVE the path we've taken the last few decades. He is giving us "space to repent," but that is not happening. We have crossed over and have become a reprobate nation.

God saw into the future. The Founding Fathers even recognized it would last about 200 years.

I hope God will save a remnant. That is also prophecied

If you read Eph. 6 "in context" beginning with vs 10 you will comprehend that the author is advising Christians to put on the whole armor of God, through faith, truth and righteousness, you obtain these weapons only through the word of God" -- vs. 17 as this is the only method of dealing with these dark powers that work unrighteousness.

How can you fight untruths if you first do not know that which is truth? "Sanctify them through thy truth; thy word is truth." -- John 17:17

Truth is the one thing that Satan cannot stand against. As Jesus instructed.........the most powerful tool used by the god of this world, Satan, (2 Cor. 4:4) is the spreading of lies in order to cause division. Satan is a liar and the father of lies (John 8:44)
