Missouri has all Democrat state-wide office holders except for the Secretary of State (who is the Republican candidate for governor and the only real statewide candidate they have). Both Senators are Republican and a majority of house seats are Republican held. The Senate races are always close here as are the governor's races. (Though the late, great Mel Carnahan won by landslides in 92 and 96.) My state is in the midst of great political turmoil. Our state assembly is run by an incompetent, inexperienced Republican leadership thanks to term limits. Our governor has been embattled and faces a tough primary challenge. 2004 will be an interesting year here in Missouri as well as across the nation.
