Eagles 2018-2019: Spirit of Cheesesteak?

After the upstart and team-coordinated Philadelphia Eagles [NFL] defeated the Goliath-like New England Patriots in Super Bowl 52 [2018], everyone was suddenly into the City of Brotherly Love!

Prior to Super Bowl LII/52, Brady's Patriots only lost 2 of the whopping 7 Super Bowls they appeared in, and they lost both to Eli Manning's gritty New York Giants [2008, 2012].

Eli is the younger brother of famed NFL QB Peyton Manning, so when it was the younger bro who did what everyone expected the older bro to do --- dethrone Tom Brady, people really appreciated this new 'little-bro NFL folk-tale.'

Well, as it stood, losing to Eli did not deflate Brady's Patriots who won the Super Bowl again in Super Bowl LI/51 [2017]. Now, the defending-champ Patriots sought a repeat by defeating the Eagles in a Super Bowl, which, incidentally, Brady's Patriots did manage to do already(!) --- in Super Bowl XXXIX/39 [2005].

However, when the upstart and well-choreographed Eagles, led by the surprisingly gifted backup-QB Nick Foles, stunned the Patriots in Super Bowl LII/52 [2018] with gritty and elegant play and pulled off a terrific 41-33 win, deflating Brady's Patriots once and for all, sports-fans around the country wanted Philly cheesesteaks to celebrate.

Now, we all know that New England Clam Chowder is an American staple culture-dish, but Philly-residents and Philly-fans know that Philly cheesesteaks are arguably as 'spirited' (albeit if more 'locally celebrated').

The 2018-2019 Eagles season saw ups-and-downs. They started out with high-hopes, when their star-QB Carson Wentz returned from injury. However, more injuries and trades and low-point games saw the Eagles at a low 4-6 NFC record after Week 10. Meanwhile, Brady's Patriots were more or less leading in their AFC division. Then, Wentz was down again, prompting Foles to have to once again do something.

However, after Week 10, the Eagles shot an outstanding 5-1 record and closed out their season with a winning 9-7 record and a chance to progress in the playoffs with a Wild-Card victory over the Chicago Bears (that game is on right now!).

Suddenly, Eagles fans and sports-writers are saying, "We might see Foles' Eagles rematch Brady's Patriots in Super Bowl LIII/53 [2019] in a great tie-break decision-game after Patriots won in 2005 and Eagles won in 2018!" instead of "Brady's Patriots might reach Super Bowl 53, but the Eagles are completely deflated!"

So who wants Philly cheesesteak??

"Nick Foles is an outstanding team-player and great backup-QB and go-to-guy, and fans and coaches equally want to see Foles do for the Eagles in the 2018 season playoffs what he miraculously did in the 2019 season playoffs. Foles has what it takes...again?"

"Everyone loves Philadelphia now. Heck, Tom Hanks made a movie about it (Philadelphia) with Denzel Washington(!). Eagles cheerleaders and kids of fans attending the NFL games alike want to see the valiant Eagles replay the Patriots and perhaps even win to snap the tie. Heck, Philly fans would even love to see an 'emerged Eagles dynasty'."

TRUMP: Super Bowl games creating city-spirit is great for media.
CARTER: And marketing...and commerce!
TRUMP: Sure; have you seen Jerry Maguire (Tom Cruise)?
CARTER: That's an outstanding sports-culture film...
TRUMP: Eagles' Super Bowl win in 2018 boosted cheesesteak sales.
CARTER: Yes, consumers around America wanted greasy cheesesteaks.
TRUMP: Has New England Clam Chowder been 'dethroned,' Carter?
CARTER: Well, it's certainly been 'challenged,' Mr. President.
TRUMP: Eagles face an ominous arena this year (Saints, Rams, Chiefs).
CARTER: There are also other formidable second-tier teams (Bears, Colts, Cowboys!).
TRUMP: Yet, fans would love to see a tie-breaking Super Bowl Eagles/Patriots rematch!
CARTER: Only in America do you see this kind of 'folk-sports spirit.'
