(NO) – A suspected sniper has been taking shots at passing vehicles on a major highway in Eastern North Carolina, and it may have been going on for days, witnesses say. Police in Bailey, 35 miles east of Raleigh, posted a warning to drivers in Wilson County late Wednesday. “Please be careful if traveling 264 East,” the post said. “There have been reports of vehicles being shot at between mile marker 38-40.” Investigators with the Wilson County Sheriff’s Office told WITN that five vehicles were shot at Wednesday in just one hour.

I've been through there many times. Bailey is the home of the Country Doctor Museum IIRC.
Which means victims could get treated with tinctures and leeches...

Bailey is a very rural, open and flat area. It wouldn't be easy to find a proper sniper's nest.

I'll be going that way in --- let's just say --- the near future.

That's awful. I read the shooter was about 35 miles East of Raleigh on 264 East.

“Please be careful if traveling 264 East,” the post said. “There have been reports of vehicles being shot at between mile marker 38-40.”

Prayers up for the victims of these horrifying episodes. I hope nobody gets hurt.

“Even though this occurred in Wilson County, we all work together to keep the public safe,” said the update.

Investigators have not said how many drivers reported vehicle damaged from suspected bullets.

However, multiple people responded to the post with stories of their vehicle being struck by suspected bullets in recent days.

Among them was Hugh Scott II, a principal with the Nash-Rocky Mount Public Schools. He said the warning came too late for him and posted a photo of damage to his vehicle.

I definitely hope the authorities catch the shooter or shooters soon.....and I have full confidence they will

I wonder if anyone who has been shot at has gone back at all in any way to try and find anything or anyone. Many hands make light work and you know that this is just one case out of many that is on the plates of the authorities.

God bless you and those who were shot at always!!!

>> WILSON COUNTY, N.C. — A teenager has been charged with shooting several vehicles along U.S. 264 in Wilson County, according to WCTI.

The Bailey Police Department warned drivers on Wednesday in two Facebook posts, saying to drive carefully after receiving reports of cars being shot at.

... The 14-year-old will be charged in the Juvenile Court System with 20 counts of discharging a barreled weapon into an occupied vehicle and 20 counts of damage to personal property.

The Wilson County Sheriff’s Office sent out a press release on Thursday morning confirming that they had received calls Wednesday afternoon just before 2 p.m. “from motorist stating that their vehicle had possibly been shot. The calls were received randomly at different locations,” the release said. “However[,] each caller reported that they were traveling eastbound on [Highway] 264 near the 38-mile marker.”

... Officials said while searching the area for evidence, they recovered a spent round, which turned out to be a pellet from a high-powered pellet rifle. They believe the teen hid behind bushes along the roadway because more pellet ammunition and several rounds of BBs were found in the area. << --- WSOC-TV

Fourteen-year-old playing with guns using the moving cars of strangers as convenient targets.

"We don't have a gun culture" though. :eusa_liar:

Not sure which is more disturbing --- that a 14-year-old is taking pot shots at cars for fun, or that the police are using Fecesbook

HEY WHAT GOOD IS HAVIN' A NEW RIFLE IF'N YA CAIN'T HAVE SOME FUN WITH IT NOW 'N THEN

Clearly somebody needs to jump in the time machine, zip into the future, and find out what political party (if any) this kid will choose when he grows up, so we can mash together an Association Fallacy.

This is USMB. We have certain expectations.
