You can also retire about 2x as fast, if you emigrate to some place like the Philippines, Portugal, or Uruaguay. It appears the AF is getting picky about its recruits, no tatoos I have heard. The AF and the Navy would be the best choices to get some good technical training as well as getting the college aid.

My son was a civilian mechanic in Iraq and in Afghanistan for maybe 5 or 6 years, and was pulling down around
150k a year tax exempt as long as he stayed out of our
country for at least 330 days per year. And the companies had decent bennies plus 401ks.

As someone who actually DID drop out of college to enlist in the Navy, my advice is don't do that. Stay in college. Getting out of academia, then trying to get back into that mindset isn't easy. If you're fresh out high school, the sooner ya get into college the easier it is.
