Donald Trump and his Manufactured Immigration Crisis.

63,000 Americans KILLED by illegals since 2001......murders and drunk driving mostly. Countless thousands rapes, robberies, identity-thefts, kidnappings, MS-13 coming in as "unaccompanied children". Everybody knows why the Stalinist left wants them here....to replace the votes they'll never get from middle-class whites again. And don't buy the claim there's 12M of them here....it's more like 20M. Bottom line? the "dreamers" have been a NIGHTMARE for Americans and they're supposedly the best of the bunch. I have no problem with deporting every last one of them and starting over. BUILD THAT WALL! MAGA!

The idiot trump feeds the conservatives' need to feel victimized. He creates new crises regularly to keep them scared out of their minds.

He's taken the GOP's decades old playbook to maintain fear in their base, and put it on steroids.

.
/—-/ Only liberals have a need to be victimized. It’s your identity politics not ours.

Donald Trump's signature campaign issue was immigration. He fired up his supporters, creating images of ravening hordes of Mexican invaders raping our women and killing our children. He never lets us forget that those countries "don't send us the best they send us their worst". Be afraid. They're destroying America according to Donald Trump.

What happens if there is no immigration crisis? What happens if border apprehensions are at a 46 year LOW? What does a man like Trump do? He creates a crisis as a vehicle to implement some pretty horrific policies, to beat the nationalist drums, and unite us in fear that "the other" is going to take over decent hardworking white Americans.

And the horrible thing is - he is pretty damn successful at it. Enough so that we ignore the reality in favor of Trump World. We ignore working together on a much needed SANE and SUBSTANTIAL immigration overhaul in favor of a crisis management approach to immigration based on hordes that simply aren't there and myths that are blatently untrue.

Analysis | There’s no immigration crisis, and these charts prove it

Myth No. 1: Undocumented immigrants are flooding into the United States

In fiscal 2017, apprehensions of immigrants entering illegally at the Southwest border (a proxy for the total number of individuals crossing the border illegally) hit their lowest level in 46 years.

Myth No. 2: Undocumented immigrants bring crime

The reality is just the opposite: A large body of social-science literature has demonstrated that immigrants, legal or otherwise, commit crime at lower rates than native-born Americans. This chart, using Texas Department of Public Safety data compiled by the libertarian Cato Institute, illustrates this quite clearly.

Myth No. 3: Immigrants take our jobs and lower our wages

This is a more complicated question than the previous two. The best information comes from a massive summary of the literature published by the National Academies of Sciences, Engineering and Medicine (NASEM) in 2017. “Most studies find little effect of immigration on the employment of natives,” that report concluded. In other words, no, immigrants are not taking your jobs.

Myth No. 4: Immigrants are a drain on the economy

In fact, research by the Cato Institute has found that poor noncitizens are considerably less likely than poor native-born Americans to use public assistance programs.
Conservatives are going to continue to propagate these myths and lies, of course.

The right’s unwarranted fear of change and diversity will keep them blind to facts and the truth.

And conservatives will continue to believe the wrongheaded notion that their ‘culture’ is ‘at risk,’ and that immigrants pose some sort of ‘threat’ to ‘white culture.’

It hit the lowest level because of Trump. Unless you think someone else was president in 2017.

Drug mules. Several murders, apparently there is an acceptable level of those to liberals. So immigrants just starve and stay homeless, how interesting. Immigrants KEEP entry level jobs at lower wages.

I grew up in a LILY WHITE town-----no immigrants of any
kind and EVERYONE spoke standard north-east English.
I knew some people were VERY BIASED against just
about anything----INCLUDING "SPICS" (anything from
latin America) OF COURSE I had no sympathy for such Nazi
filth---------then I EMERGED into the world and came upon
people who seemed to KNOW things that I do not know.
In Arizona PEOPLE HATE MEXICANS---for CRIME.
Texans seem to despise Mexicans for BEING THERE. There were people LONG BEFORE TRUMP who had lots
against Mexican immigrants

People have always hated immigrants. The words you hear today are the same that were flung at the East European Jews, the Italians, the Irish, the Poles, the Chinese....it never changes, the only difference is the target.

What happens if border apprehensions are at a 46 year LOW?

Trump said he was gonna seal the border. Illegals believed him.

Do you think that means we should let unlimited numbers of illegal aliens enter?

Undocumented immigrants bring crime

Illegal aliens do.

That's awful!! So what?

I don't mind immigrants if they come through legally.

I think the pro-illegal crowd just wants the votes, though. That's my view on it. And I still can't figure out how they're able to vote. Since when did foreign citizens without American citizenship status become the electorate?

The Washington Post article I linked to in the OP had a graph for 2017, which isn't drastically different from 2016. It's been going down fairly steadily from a high around 2000.

Shut up. Everything you say here is akin to flat Earthers and the Moon landing hoaxers. There isn't any point in arguing with you. Every single one of your 4 points is deeply flawed and without balance. So, go ahead have a merry unbirthday and say hello to the mad hatter.

So show us where those points are wrong instead of going into a tizzy and having a meltdown.

Likely dismissing generational data here. When someone is born, they're not likely crossing the border until they're near adulthood.

Charts and polls are relatively useless. And definitely fragmented, missing pertinent data.

You're speaking from the heart. I get it. But we can't do that.

They're flooding here in the tens of thousands.

Do so legally and all will be well. It's really that simple.

Did I say prior admins had nothing to do with the decreases? No, that would be your poor attempt at debate.

Apprehensions are a function of enforcement normally. With Trump it was a fear of prison and aggressive programs to end the invasion.

A beautifully crafted OP simply untouched by Alt Right/Russian crying.

In other words...the OP ignores facts but suits your ‘feels’ so it’s “beautifully crafted”.....haha...funny shit!

I presented facts. You are free to ignore them or, refute them with facts...or, just resort to insults if you aren't equipt to.

The CATO institute was sited by the OP as a reference. Created by the Koch brothers. The CATO institute , lets go there for instance. The Cato institute ( has this semi hard to find link to "Hispanic institute") or such nonsense, which might temper anyone's plea to take anything the Koch brothers sponsor with a HUGE grain of salt.

You don't view a steady stream of undocumented immigrants filing through our Southern border a problem? Do you believe we have unlimited tax and human resources to support an unending stream of uneducated, unhealthy, people? Do you believe the needs of non-citizens trump the needs of poor American citizens? Think. Don't be manipulated, THINK.

I said crisis. Not problem. Of course it's a problem. It's not a crisis. It's far LESS of a problem then it was 18 years ago.
