Dominionists run for highest office in US

Mikey Weinstein, founder of the Military Religious Freedom Foundation (MRFF) sent me a confidential email containing a PowerPoint presentation that you can download by clicking here.

Last year MRFF worked with Americans United for the Separation of Church and State and other allies in this fight against Dominionism and that effort resulted in successfully getting the Pentagon to demand that the defense contractor, Trijicon, immediately stop tucking bible verses in the engraved numbers on their rifle scopes manufactured for military use, which became known as “Jesus Rifles”. This had been going on for nearly 37 years!

Extremism is extremism.

We are not in a Holy War and we must quit indoctrinating our enlisted to think in those terms. These men and women take an oath to defend the Constitution of the United States and that includes protecting the freedoms of all Americans regardless of religious beliefs. We are all making progress by applying pressure and exposing just who these military Dominionists are, but we have a long way to go. They have been successful in existing under the radar of most Americans for years allowing for some to rise quite high up in the ranks.

A Victory Against Dominionist Indoctrination of the Air Force

Ten words that prove this is a non-issue:

"Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion..."
Looks like some folks missed this first time around.

Probably won't penetrate the irrational fear this time, either.

Chicken Littles of the World, TAKE FLIGHT.
Can't...they're pointed in the wrong direction.

Nobody despises hyper fundamentalist religionists more than me, but exaggerating their importance and relevance isn't helpful.

Of course, I don't live my life as one long recurring panic attack, though, so it's a little difficult for me to relate to Sky's unique perspective.

Steve Schultz is founder of the Elijah List website, a major clearinghouse for information about the apostolic and prophetic movement. In 2002, Schultz posted a prophecy for Texas from Prophetess Cindy Jacobs. Schultz added the following,

"Texas- you are about to undergo an `identity change.' You will become the head and not the tail. Instead of people complaining about the negatives aspects of being in the Bible belt-- they will begin to honor you, as a `model of apostles, prophets, and intercessors, working together from the Body throughout Texas. Lead on, Texas!'"

It remains to be seen if people will honor Texas for this, but on August 6, Rick Perry will be leading an event in which many of the organizers are leaders from Lou Engle's The Call and Mike Bickle's International House of Prayer - the youth-oriented organizations of two major promoters of New Apostolic ideology.

The event is being financed by the American Family Association, which broadcast an interview in March with Michele Bachmann, discussing her possible run for president.

A nine-minute video compilation by Bruce Wilson shows the growing partnership of the apostles with politicians, focusing on the relationship between Lou Engle and Sam Brownback, but also including Michele Bachmann, Jim DeMint, Newt Gingrich, and others.

f the current seven candidates in the Republican presidential primary race, Michele Bachmann, an Oral Roberts University graduate, has received the most vocal support from Charismatic domininists. However, it looks as if Rick Perry, who is also now working closely with New Apostolics, might be joining the race. It will be interesting to see who wins the support of the apostles and the backing of their fifty-state network of prayer warriors.

"There should be absolutely no 'Separation of Church and State' in America." David Barton (Wallbuilders)

"The long-term goal of Christians in politics should be to gain exclusive control over the franchise. Those who refuse to submit publicly to the eternal sanctions of God by submitting to His Church's public marks of the covenant–baptism and holy communion–must be denied citizenship." Gary North (Institute for Christian Economics)

"The Christian community has a golden opportunity to train an army of dedicated teachers who can invade the public school classrooms and use them to influence the nation for Christ." James Kennedy (Center for Reclaiming America)

"We are to make Bible-obeying disciples of anybody that gets in our way." Jay Grimstead (Coalition on Revival)

"Civilized people – Muslims, Christians, and Jews – all understand that the source of freedom and human dignity is the Creator." John Ashcroft (Attorney General)

"The [Supreme] Court, by seeking to equate Christianity with other religions, merely assaults the one faith. The Court in essence is assailing the true God by democratizing the Christian religion." John Whitehead (Rutherford Institute)

"Nobody has the right to worship on this planet any other God than Jehovah. And therefore the state does not have the responsibility to defend anybody's pseudo-right to worship an idol." Joseph Morecraft (Chalcedon Presbyterian Church)

"I'm an old-fashioned woman. Men should take care of women, and if men were taking care of women today, we wouldn't have to vote." Kay O'Connor (Kansas Senate Republican)

"Raising your children under Americanism or any other principles other than true Christianity is child abuse."

"Democracy originated in the mind of a rational being who has the deepest hatred for God."

"Do you realize that the only thing that gives democracy existence is sin? The absence of democracy is perfect obedience to god."

"The best way to insure the earth is never over populated is for sensible and righteous governments to clear all forms of atheism and heresy." Robert T. Lee (Society for the Practical Establishment of the Ten Commandments)

"Anybody that believes in separation of church and state needs to leave right now." Star Parker (Coalition on Urban Renewal & Education)

"The 'wall of separation between church and state' is a metaphor based on bad history, a metaphor which has proved useless as a guide to judging. It should be frankly and explicitly abandoned." William Rehnquist (Chief Justice of the U.S. Supreme Court)

The idea that Christians should physically overcome their enemies and rule in righteousness is not new in the United States, and the current thread of theocratic Christian Reconstructionists goes back at least to 1948. The movement has operated under various names such as the Latter Rain movement, Joel’s Army, the Manifest Sons of God, and now the Seven Mountain Mandate.

According to Chip Berlet, “Christian Reconstructionism is a form of theocratic dominion theology…The core theme of dominion theology is that the Bible mandates Christians to take over and “occupy” secular institutions.” Dominionists and followers of the Seven Mountain Mandate came to public attention in 2005 when a video of Kenyan Pastor, Thomas Muthee anointing Sara Palin for leadership, was uploaded on Youtube.

One group participating, in particular, has been cited as an extremist organization, founded on the missionary promotion of intolerance and prejudice. According to People for the American Way, the so-called American Family Association has:

Held gays responsible for the Holocaust and likened them to domestic terrorists and Nazis who are intent on committing “virtual genocide” against the military, and asserts that “homosexuals should be disqualified from public office”;

Said “we have feminized the Medal of Honor” by awarding it to a soldier who saved his fellow combatants rather than killing enemies;

Demanded all immigrants “convert to Christianity” and renounce their religions;
asserted that Muslims have “no fundamental First Amendment claims” and should be banned from building mosques and deported from the US, adding that Muslims are inherently stupid as a result of inbreeding;

Claimed African American women “rut like rabbits” due to welfare and that Native Americans are “morally disqualified” from living in America because they didn’t convert to Christianity and were consequently cursed by God with alcoholism and poverty;
said that the anti-Muslim manifesto of the right-wing Christian terrorist who killed dozens in Norway was “accurate.”

The Dallas Morning News has reported that Governor Perry’s affiliation with extremist organizations, and his radical policies, which have undermined overall economic progress for the population of his state, are driving Democratic party views that he is a deeply flawed candidate, too far out of the mainstream to be electable nationally.

Perry Leads Prayer Rally Sponsored by Agents of Intolerance | CafeSentido.com

Governor Perry stood proudly before those at the Response gathering with, metaphorically, a bible in one hand and a gun in the other. Thumping the bible, he oversees the most sustained program of civil executions in any democracy in the world; only China out kills this bible-toting executioner.

Since 1982, Texas has executed 437 people. Under George W. Bush, 152 people were executed; under Perry, 199 people have so far been killed. And there are currently 300 offenders on death row awaiting Perry's OK to drop the guillotine. Against Perry's best efforts, the Innocence Project continues to exonerate falsely-convicted people on death row and throughout the Texas prison system.

Perry, along with many of the evangelical Christian political movement, is part of what has long been recognized as the punitive tendency within religion. This tendency is evident in the other Abrahamic faiths, both Judaism and Islam. It is stridently monotheistic, seeking to repress the body and its sexual desires, suppress women, deny homoeroticism and reinforce patriarchal authority.

The stalking horses behind the prayer event were the rightwing Christian leaders, Bryan Fischer and John Hagee.

Fischer has a revealing background, one that would make Goebbels proud: he directs Issues Analysis for the American Family Association (AFA); he hosts Focal Point on American Family Radio; and blogs at the AFA's Rightly Concerned, which official sponsored the gathering; more troubling, he has repeatedly come out against gays and Muslims.

Hagee is undergoing a political reincarnation; after his debacle with John McCain during the 2008 election (he called the Catholic Church "the great whore" and referred to Hurricane Katrina as "God's punishment" of New Orleans), he is founder and senior pastor of San Antonio's nondenominational Cornerstone Church; he also serves as CEO of the "non-profit" Global Evangelism Television (GETV) service.

Perry, like many of his backers and within the Christian right, speaks for a new version of a very old mean-spirited, intolerant Christianity. Such intolerance is rooted in the very founding of the nation and its accompanying religious wars. These wars began against the Native peoples and were as much about property as race as belief.

David Rosen: Praying for Votes

We know Muslim zealots as Islamic fundamentalist extremists, and more accurately Wahabbists like Osama Bin Laden and Prince Al Waleed Bin Talal of Saudi Arabia (who by the way is notably the 2nd largest shareholder of FOX Newscorp – just sayin’).

So, my fellow moderates, now it is time for us to acquaint ourselves with our very own homegrown version of radical Christian fundamentalists. Do not confuse them with the majority of Christians in America who are mainline Christians. Mainline Christians are those who actually follow the teachings of Christ that promote kindness, compassion and love thy neighbor; don’t judge lest ye be judged; let them know you by your good deeds; and it will be easier for a camel to go through the eye of a needle than a rich man to enter the Kingdom of Heaven. THOSE Christians.

Christian Dominionists on the other hand believe that we are in the End Times and that they must proactively make the way for the 2nd coming of Christ. They ignore passages from the Bible written that Jesus said “you will not know the day, the hour…I will come like a thief in the night”. Instead they have a laundry list of duties that they must implement before Christ can return. Some of these include fulfilling the Great Commission (Matthew 28: 16-20 ) which they interpret to mean that they are to go forth and aggressively hound the people of the world into conversion, “harvesting as many souls” as possible. (Their words not mine).

No longer do we have the luxury of simple partisan politics in America. After the infestation of the Republican Party by the political wing of the Dominionists we are now unable to think in terms of Democrat vs. Republican, or Liberal vs. Conservative – it is now a matter of freedom versus theocracy.

"Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion...I agree, the Domionists do not.

Look at the GOP line up for POTUS. It is full of Domionists.

The nation becomes a theocracy when religious and political leaders are the same.
They can't just arbitrarily decree America to be a theocracy.

Really.

They can't.

It's impossible.

You have nothing to be frightened of.

Read the articles, dave. Let me know which Dominionist has your vote for POTUS.

I don't have to. I've read the Constitution. That's what says you have nothing to fear.
