Getting ready for our trip, we took our dog, Czar to the kennel. He loves going to the kennel so much we don't dare mention the name "Connie" or her dog's name, "Cheyenne". He also knows the difference between going in the car and going in the car with his bed, toys and a bag of food and when he sees us gather up all that, he KNOWS he's getting a vacation too.

We barely got his stuff in the car and he bounds up into the seat, all attention to supervise the drive.

His vet is on the same road but he loves going to the vet too. Once we drive past the vet's office, he knows where we're going and can hardly sit still. He's dancing and barking and jumping up and down with absolute joy that he's going to see his good friends.

Once there, he ran to the kennel to look for his buds and then to the house to look there. When Cheyenne and Connie appeared, it was a huge reunion of more barking, dancing and playing. He hardly noticed when we left!

Czar also knows when I'm packing up Amazon/ebay sales to mail. When I turn around, there he is, all attention, waiting for us to say 'let's go to the mailbox'. The walk to the mailbox is a big deal because the front is not fenced so he never gets to go there unsupervised, and the front yard is loaded with good wildlife and other dog smells. He really has a peeing good time out there.

The cats are a different story, of course. We have a sitter who will come every day and we've laid in a bunch of new guilt toys for her to give out every few days but, they will not be happy about being left alone.

The thing about dogs and cats though - Once you come home, they seem to forget and forgive these transgressions. Gotta love 'em for that.
