I pay tax at the pump, the roads aren't a gift of the state, we pay for them. So anytime two or more people chip in for something it's socialism?

When did I mention 'gift?' We do pay taxes at the pump, and all but Federal tax is deductible (mine more than yours) which reduces you Federal tax bill AND you get to travel on publicly maintained roadways without paying a toll. Sweet deal?

On average, 17% of a property tax bill goes toward education. Why don't you post your State and county so we can check.
