Deep State Plant.
I heard it put very eloquently today by Bradley Whitford:

Republicans may not like the person they are voting for but vote to win the election.
A lot of Democrats on the other hand have to love the person they are voting for to cast a ballot for them.

I think there is a lot of truth to that.

Both sides vote for the person they love in the primary...and both sides hold their noses and vote for the lesser of two evils when they don't love the nominee.

I'm also sure their are a minority of persons on both sides whose personal ideology don't mesh with the candidates and many more who take their ball and go home when they don't get their way.

Perhaps what you are seeing is the Democrats skewing the less mature have a larger portion of the take their ball and go homers, while the Republicans, being older and wiser are more pragmatic. :eusa_whistle:

IF that is true we will definitely win 2020 because the Left is fractured bad.

We have binary elections. If Democrats turn out in the swing states, the Dems will win. If not, they won't.

I think Trump's chances of retaining the White House are 2 out of 3. For whatever reason, Americans like re-electing Presidents.

I can agree with that. Maturity? Maybe. Stupidity? Definitely. When it comes to Presidential politics, I think the Democrats have a lot more single issue voters than the Republicans do. Meaning that if a Dem isn't for X, Y, or Z, there are voters who will not vote for them regardless of where they stand on A-W. For the Republicans, it's if the nominee is for X, Y, or Z, it's okay because they are for some of the letters A-W.

I voted for Romney even though he signed an assault weapons ban. But Obama was even more likely to reenact the AWB. So...IMO, voting for Romney was the wise choice, even though I wasn't thrilled with him by any measure beyond he was minutely closer to my ideology overall than Obama was.

But, I suspect a pro- choice Democrat would do the same if the opponent was more likely to enact pro- life policy. To walk away would be completely counterproductive to their cause. That would be a stupid decision.

Do forget more Black Americans like Trump now the Walkaway movement is growing daily. These black voters hate illegal immigration. It’s a fact it gonna play a bigger part next election.

And don’t forget about Generation Z

Doubtful

7 Governors seats and 40 house seats switched in the 2018 midterms which are historically referendums on the President.

Doesn’t matter between Democrats and the Socialist (Bernie Sanders loved by Generation X who felt betrayed and they’re going to eat themselves.

There are a lot of voters who base their vote on whether or not the candidate is personally likable. Take Trump, for instance. Trump is creating positive economic results and there are countless numbers of people who would gladly vote to remove him and replace him with a know-nothing, academic ideologue like Elizabeth Warren.

I support candidates that support improving the standard of living of average Americans. Trump was the only candidate that expressed any interest in doing so, hence, I voted for him in the Florida primary and in the general election. In 20', however, I might write in "Richard Simmons" because he's really, really nice and never offends anyone.

Oh, I'm pretty sure losing 7 governor's seats (one in Kansas of all places) is a good sign of the strength of the GOP voting. Not only that, minimum wage laws raising the MW above the FMW took hold in 3 red states as I recall.

We'll see if the Democrats can get out of their own way long enough to make the blob a 1 term president.

I agree I just so see them pulling it together on realist ideas to fix problems. I think they’re going to stick with we must hate Trump which is getting tired to some who are waking up because of the historical progress Trump has made in such a short time and he keeps us informed like no one else and where I’m from we love hard work and humor.

Bernie Sanders, in Iowa, promises ‘Medicare for all’; says Trump ‘embarrasses us every single day’ lol

Again, I give Tump a 2/3 chance of being re-elected.

I base that on this; The senate didn't switch in the mid-term which means that in state-wide contests the GOP brand was strong enough to withstand the continent-sized pool of sleaze that surrounds him. Granted, there were many more blue seats up for grabs than red seats....

Anyway, if the voters in those states that had GOP holds and flipped from blue to red are not totally appalled yet by Trump and the scandals, the sleaze, the vulgarity, kidnapping kids, loving dictators and being a doormat for Russia...I doubt anything that happened post 11/18 would change their minds.

We'll see if the Democrats can get out of their own way long enough to make the blob a 1 term president.

Let's hope so. We've got to get America back to 1.5% GDP "growth" and we need to increase our reliance on despotic, Islamic, oil tycoons, not reduce it as Trump has done.
