Did Obama lie about health care for illegals?

1) President Obama is not being truthful because the Republicans attempted to insert an amendment in the bill such that the proposed plan would not cover illegal immigrants and they were voted down in a straight party line vote by the democrats.

2) Given the bills in the House and Senate are over 1,000 pages each and are written in pure legalese it will be up to the beaurocrats to imlement the bill once it has been passed, and without specific guidance to omit the coverage of illegal immigrants they will be covered. If this were not the wish of the Democrats why would they vote down the amendment (mentioned above)???

Why would you assume that, without that specific guidance, illegal immigrants would qualify for healthcare? Do illegals qualify for any other government program?

It is common knowledge that Obama is pro-illegals. It was intentional to leave loop-holes in the bill just so it looks good on the outside, but they can still manipulate it their way.

Common practice, and if they fail to put guaranteed restrictions on the books it is because they know they may want to offer illegals services along the way.

This is the kind of deception Obama is using, and has been from the start. He is not an Americvan, and he has an agenda that is not proAmerican.

No, it is not common knowledge. But I am willing to be convinced. Show me in his writings and/or speeches where Obama is showing he is pro-illegals.

Nothing in this subtitle shall allow Federal payments for affordability credits on behalf of individuals who are not lawfully present in the United States.

With regards to illegals, it isn't what's in the bill, it's what's not in it. How are they going to determine if someone is, or is not, 'lawfully present in the U.S.'? If they really wanted to ensure that illegals didn't get health care why would they shoot the amendment down?

The only way I'll believe that illegal scumbag aliens won't get health coverage is when one of them walks into an emergency room with a nail in his head, and is then turned away because he's here illegally.

If he gets treatment, he just got coverage...

So, there it is, in the actual bill text, printed in black and white. FactCheck.org and several others have also debunked this rumor.

The Sunlight Foundation has been urging members of Congress to post bills online for 72 hours so they and everyone else can get a chance to read the bill so they can, you know, understand it and make informed comments before voting. We’ve done part of the work here by posting the bill for everyone to read, but while you can lead a representative to water, you cannot make him drink.

Libs are so gullible... "Obama said it so it must be true!"

Maybe our new National Healthcare Plan will include instilling some common sense in Dems.

Nahhhhh, that'd be asking for too much.

One more time... ILLEGALS WILL BE COVERED BECAUSE THERE IS NO PROVISION FOR DETERMINING THEY'RE NOT US CITIZENS!

Again, Obama is a liar -- and the left eats it up like it's candy.

Like the President says: He doesen't have time for this nonsense.. A new health care bill will be signed before years end, a:cuckoo:nd there is nothing that can stop it!

[B]H.R. 3200: Sec 246 — NO FEDERAL PAYMENT FOR UNDOCUMENTED ALIENS

Nothing in this subtitle shall allow Federal payments for affordability credits on behalf of individuals who are not lawfully present in the United States.

You are being misinformed. There is no amendment needed.

This thread is full of win. I'm in agreement with everybody here on the left and the right. Let's face it; We can't trust the gubamint to do anything right.

The government can do anything.

Let us all dance and sing with Obama. Yay big government :eusa_dance:

The bill clearly states that illegals are barred. Simple enough.

Law enforcemnet all around the country has no clue about how to deal with illegals or even be sure who is who but somehow we should expect health care workers to tackle this task that NO ONE has demonstrated the capacity to do.

And of course, arguing that dishonest people will take advantage of something is always a valid argument for no one to have anything. ......what a bunch of nut jobs. :eusa_liar:

Claim: Page 50: All non-US citizens, illegal or not, will be provided with free healthcare services.

False. That’s simply not what the bill says at all. This page includes "SEC. 152. PROHIBITING DISCRIMINATION IN HEALTH CARE," which says that "[e]xcept as otherwise explicitly permitted by this Act and by subsequent regulations consistent with this Act, all health care and related services (including insurance coverage and public health activities) covered by this Act shall be provided without regard to personal characteristics extraneous to the provision of high quality health care or related services." However, the bill does explicitly say that illegal immigrants can’t get any government money to pay for health care. Page 143 states: "Nothing in this subtitle shall allow Federal payments for affordability credits on behalf of individuals who are not lawfully present in the United States." And as we’ve said before, current law prohibits illegal immigrants from participating in government health care programs.

He lied right to your faces. The democwats purposefully voted down the Heller amendment. They know damn well they are going to give illegals health care.

As I recall, the Heller amendment would have required special IDs based upon an existing database. It was a convoluted tool to weed them out, and, as you say, the language was simple and uncontested as it already existed.

There will be hundreds of administrative systems set up for people to qualify for this, that, and the other if and when a final reform package is law. To cover every single method in the Bill itself would be impossible.

my eyes are wide open budrow.. you can write hr3200 til your herd of cows come home. the gov cannot control what illegals do, cannot stop them from coming cannot stop them from getting on the welfare dole, cannot stop them from getting social security, cannot stop them from stealing ID.. so what gives you the confidence that they can stop illegals from getting on the "public option" especially since the demoncwats voted down the Heller amendment. you are the second fool that's tried to tell us it's "written in the bill" big effen deal.. the gov. is a proven miserable failure.. look at california if you need more proof..

They will need SOME kind of proof of citizenship; otherwise, they risk deportation, so they won't be arriving in droves to sign up anyway.

If the Gov. can't stop illegals from taking advantage of this entitlement then what difference does it make whether the Heller ammendment was voted down?

it would have been an effort.. as it is now what they are saying is and I quote Joe Scarborogh. "they say illegals won't get health care but they forbid your asking citizenship status" so don't be gullible.

Scarborough was talking about HOSPITALS, not insurers. That particular conversation also discussed how hospitals would continue to deal with the existing problem, and whoever Joe was talking to suggested that hospitals might have to set up a third tier emergency room treatment for minor, non-life threatening care where a "box" of doctors affiliated with the hospital would be set up. (Go through Door #3 and pick a number.) Again, that was suggested as a TOOL for when the mechanics are established of how it will all operate.

one thing i DO KNOW is the republican amendments THAT MADE DOCTORS responsible and HEALTH CARE WORKERS responsible for making certain everyone is legal, getting it....WAS the WRONG way to go, and i am happy that this measure was NOT accepted by democrats in office, if this is what it really required!

It's the lack of specific guidelines that opens the door:

There are many SPECIFIC GUIDELINES that will be developed. Why do you think most of it wouldn't even go into effect until 2013?

Did the Patriot Act have all the "guidelines" in it? Of course not. After it was passed, an entire new agency was developed and tens of thousands of "guidelines" established based upon that new law thereafter.

People already bitch about the shear size of the bill. If it contains all the "guidelines" it would be the size of the Internal Revenue Code (taking up floor to ceiling).

the house has done all that they can do on legislating the restriction of undocumented immigrants from getting any federal gvt assistance for health care, in this bill...it will be up to the States to enforce it i suppose???

the bill has alot more measures in it describing how illegal aliens would not be eligible...alot of dotting eyes and crossing t's besides the one blip above on it in this bill.

the president did not lie on this one, as the liars are saying...no matter how they try to twist, turn, and spin it!

care

Anyone who believes the govt will suddenly start asking for proof of citizenship should be reminded that currently, illegals can (and do):

Get a drivers license.
Buy insurance.
Open a bank account.
Enroll their kids in school.
Buy a house.
Buy a car.
Get a loan.
Open a business.
VOTE.

All of these 'privileges' are available, even though laws are on the books to prevent it. It's as simple as having a child born in the USA who is eligible to be issued a SS#, then the parents using that number to obtain anything their little hearts desire. Unless Obama stipulates that all SS#s must be verified, nothing will change... illegals will be entitled to the same healthcare options as legal citizens. Only the extremely naive believe that we'll see piles of dead Mexicans in the streets because Obama said illegals won't be covered.
