Did ANYONE on this board see a savings from Obamacare?

My assistant sure did. She was/is able to keep her special needs child on the company plan for several years. The separate policy for the child was going to be so much she couldn’t afford to keep working here; she would have to get a higher paying job to afford the premium.

In 2006 I had an insurance policy for $67 a month. It was perfect for me. $25 doctor visits, which is great since I never go to the doctor anyway. Basic co-pay and yearly out of pocket limit of $5,000, but it had a $1,250 deductible. Basically it was an emergency insurance policy. If I got cancer, I'd pay $5,000 and then it would cover 100%.

Perfect policy for me.

Fast forward to today. $11/hour job. During the interview "no medical benefits. We couldn't find a policy we could afford, so we don't have that."

So I went on the the health insurance exchange. The cheapest plan, the bare minimum, was $274. Subsidized by $164. So $80 a month. For that $80 a month (plus the $164 you hard working tax payers are paying), I have a $6450 deductible. Oh.... wait..... that's only if I am 'in network'. Out of network it's $13,000.

Oh and that co-insurance? 50%. So even after I pay the $6,450 up front deductible, I still get to pay 50% of the cost.

Thanks Obama. Thanks Candycorn. Oh, and tell your assistant, she should be grateful to all the poor people screwed over, so she could have subsidized health care for her child.

Of course I'm now reading that Aetna is considering canceling their participation in the health exchanges. Which if that happens, I'll just have to go without health care at all. Can't afford it.

But you don't give a crap do you Candy? Nah, all those poor people should just go without, and be penalized by the government for being poor and not having insurance.

You left-wingers are all the same. You proclaim how much you care, and then screw everyone over.

Anyone? Anyone at all? Our costs are up 12% since Obumblecare took effect.

Yes. My provider network is an ACO (one that has demonstrably saved money and improved on quality measures). That wouldn't have been the case without the ACA. That helps me out by keeping my premium growth in check and improving the care I'll get if I need to access services.

You need to read your benefits summary a little closer. $6,450 = your deductible = your out-of-pocket max. So your coinsurance is zero. All expenses are paid 100% after you chip in $6,450.

Anyway, what you're saying is that a full ten years later you're paying only $13 more per month and if you had a catastrophic event like cancer you'd pay $1,450 more out of pocket than you would've a decade go but then you're covered 100%.

That's pretty astonishing, given (1) normal cost growth over the last decade, and (2) your own costs will naturally go up with time due to age rating.

Says the guy that just claimed he never had to go to the doctor. Your logic is bewilderingly naive.

"which is great since I never go to the doctor anyway."

If youre only making $11/hour you are doing something majorly wrong. Get off your ass and get a real job. You poor trash are all the same. You think your white privilege has to be handed to you.

I do believe that medical cost increased every year before the ACA also..

1. Yes, and they should. Its called inflation. Everything goes up in price by some degree, year over year.

2. The left-wing socialists claimed that Obama Care would reduce, or contain health care costs. The fact health care costs went up before Obama Care, doesn't matter to the fact that Obama Care has completely failed in the promises of holding, or containing health care costs.

That argument is like a fat guy gaining 20 lbs, going on a diet, and still gaining 20 lbs, and you saying "it's not the diets fault. He gained 20 lbs before he went on the diet!".

3. Fact is, insurance premiums have increased faster after Obama Care, than they were increasing before Obama Care.

So your argument is more like a fat guy gaining 20 lbs, going on a diet, and gaining 40 lbs, and you claim "well yeah, but he it's still not the diets fault, because he gained weight before hand".

Give it time clown. Nothing moves fast in this country. The good thing is that its in place and can be tweaked. The other way wasnt working at all.

I see, so health care costs were supposed to keep increasing all along. I don't recall that being stated by Obama, in fact quite the opposite with his $2500 per year average savings projection. That doesn't sound like "expect your costs to keep going up".

No, I don't know anyone who saved money. My brother the liberal, didn't have any healthcare plan at all until Obamacare and now he does. Funny thing is the only difference is that he was forced to buy it. So he didn't save money, he is now spending it on something he didn't have before. He thinks he got a wonderful deal.

Fortunately for me I have insurance through my great job. I have what 0bama-the-liar would call a Cadillac Plan. In the past year, I've gotten more than my money's worth.

I did

My 23 year old son was able to be covered on my family policy for no additional cost

Obama never claimed he was going to stop inflation. Only someone retarded would assume that.

Yeah maybe in the short term.

Side Effects: Obamacare Adds $17 Trillion to Long-Term Unfunded Government Spending

No additional cost to you today. Screw over your children and grand children though. Of course left-wingers only think about today, not the future. Who the heck cares who you stick with the bill for your policies... .right?

I was asked if I saw a savings.....I saw a big savings
As did those in blue states who were covered under expanded Medicaid
Or those with preexisting conditions
