This is a twofer for the Democrats. Both the First and Second Amendments in one fell swoop.

Two Democratic members of the Alabama House of Representatives are sponsoring a bill to make it illegal to carry a gun in a church without permission, even if you have a permit to carry a concealed gun.

Jackson said people should not have to worry about someone carrying a gun while they're in a place of worship.

Melton said he was co-sponsoring the bill because he does not think anyone other than law enforcement should be able to carry firearms in churches.

Jackson said churches can post signs to ban firearms but that it would be better to have a prohibition in the law.

He said he did not know of any specific instances of unwanted guns in churches.

So instead of letting the individual churches handle their own rules there must be a law made.

The right wingers love guns in churches.

It's much easier to kill those they hate.

How come you can't edit the title of the thread to correct typo?

Personally, I support letting the individual churches decide what their policy will be. I don't see the logic behind treating a church any differently from any other private enterprise in this instance.

There have been a couple of shootings in churches lately. One was a father and son, one or both was clergy. In the other, the preacher shot the janitor. God would so proud.

The perfect situation would be if churches and bars were combined and everyone was packing. Drunk thumpers, shooting each other down.

Why are you against Freedom of Religion...?

I asked Jesus if we should allow guns in his churches but he still hasn't gotten back with me yet.......

What if you're a cop?

Why should that matter?
Most cops are armed 24/7, with at a least a small ankle gun, a .32 or maybe a .38. Honestly though, my position on the matter is that the congregation should decide for itself, and its votaries should respect the will of the parish, temple, mosque, etc. Not exactly rocket science.

You know, if you can't even spell Constitutional I'm not even going to read your post.
