More window dressing from Open Border Joe. Here is a quick summary of this bold new asylum law. Hmmmm funny this sounds like the asylum laws our government is currently ignoring. I guess making a shiny new law with the same words makes it a better law. Meanwhile 300 Americans a day are still dying from poison created and shipped by the drug cartels, 200,000 illegals per month are still coming across the border, more shelters will be maxed out, more food banks will be tapped out, but yippee we will have a new asylum law!

>>>>>>
Under the new rules, migrants who do not schedule an appointment at a U.S. border port of entry or use humanitarian programs available to certain nationalities would be ineligible for asylum except in certain cases. They must also first seek and be denied protection in countries they pass through to be able to claim asylum once in the United States.

Trump did precisely the same thing.

So why did Biden abandon it for two years only to return to it. Seems like he did the same thing with Rx drugs.
Thank you for asking. The MPP, Migrant Protection Protocols, have been batted back and forth among the courts since the very beginning. Various components have been ruled illegal by lower courts, and various actions to overturn the Trump migration policies, have also been blocked by the courts.

Take Title 42, a key component of the Trump immigration program. It is still in effect, it always has been, although it appears the SCOTUS is going to overrule the lower courts and allow it to be eliminated. At the same time, the SCOTUS appears to be unwilling to approve the "First Safe Country" MPP requirement. It is contrary to the Refugee Act of 1980 and a violation of the 1948 Universal Declaration of Human Rights.

In preparation for the elimination of Title 42 the Biden administration is attempting to restructure the First Safe Country component of the MPP in order to get SCOTUS approval.

Nice speculation. Wish in one hand and spit in the other and see which one gets full first. LOL
