Democrats Kept Lincoln Off the Ballot in 10 States in 1860

This isn’t the first time Democrats have kept their own voters from voting the candidate of their choice. Democrats are still the same as they were then. They hate America but love racism and divisiveness.

So, it has historical precedent, contrary to what MAGA partisans have been saying! Haven’t the conservative members of the court been saying, you need a precedent from before the Civil War? Looks like we have it and the deliberations in the various states may proceed.

Supreme Court had just sided with Democrats then saying blacks can be property too.

Republicans shouldn't be so smug on the topic after the reaction they had to Americans voting for their favored presidential candidate in four straight elections.

Except for those pesky facts. The Republican party of Lincoln's era WAS today's Democratic party while the Democrats of Lincoln's era were southern Democrats. Slave holders. Secessionists. Traitors.
You love trying to rewrite history, don't ya, Penguin Boy? :)

No, that's propaganda and revision history. Just more lies from libs. Democrats are the party of slavery and segregation and continue to divide people to this day.

Was it for insirrection, as decided by courts?

No?

Then, no comparison.
I’m so old I remember when you had to be criminally prosecuted and found guilty to have your constitutional rights stripped.

BTW - that judge in the Colorado Civil suit found Trump did not violate the 14th. The CO Supreme Court reversed that judges decision.

LBJ said he'd.......have those niggas voting for dems forever.

And by god, he was right.

Perhaps the simple explanation, which Johnson likely understood better than most, was that there is no magic formula through which people can emancipate themselves from prejudice, no finish line that when crossed, awards a person's soul with a shining medal of purity in matters of race. All we can offer is a commitment to justice in word and deed, that must be honored but from which we will all occasionally fall short. Maybe when Johnson said "it is not just Negroes but all of us, who must overcome the crippling legacy of bigotry," he really meant all of us, including himself.

Lyndon Johnson was a civil rights hero. But also a racist.
