Earn "by their labor", please try to avoid lying by omission.
So what, in real dollars that means nothing. Take 10% of the income of someone earning 30 k a year and it hurts; take 10% from someone earning $3,000,000 a year and they'll whine, but it won't hurt.
How else does one earn if not 'by their labor?" Do you imagine money just magically appears in the bank accounts?
Your claim is that the rich don't pay their fair share when they pay vastly more than you do. So what is their "fair share?" How is that defined?
The slum lord labors not, and checks go into the bank, not magically, for the money exchanged is earned by the labor of the renter. Compare the hours spent, and calories expended by the renter with the time spent counting money and raising rents because S/He can.
"fair share"? I've never used the term, for life is not fair. It becomes less far when one resides in a Plutocracy, for the power elite in such a society looks after its own, and will exploit the hoi polloi in any manner of ways. We know this, it is an undeniable truth.
The progressive income tax, the inheritance tax, Unions and collective bargaining are means used in a democratic republic to mitigate strive between the haves and have nots. Yet all of these are under attack by the right wing which now dominates the Republican Party.
Right out of the Commie Manifesto ... thanks comrade!
The rich are already carrying 68% of our personal federal income tax load. What would satisfy you? 78%? 88%? 108%? And how do you suppose your "slumlords" manage to own the rental props? Perhaps by the "hours spent, and calories expended" acquiring, improving and maintaining them? You seem to respect only those on the very bottom while harboring nothing but drooling hate for everyone else.
Typical lefty.
What percentage of the nations wealth do the rich control...
Changing the subject is a lame ploy. We have been discussing the personal federal income tax burden. You claim the rich don't pay their "fair share." To that I responded that the top 10% of American earners carry 68% of the load and that the top 20% pay 80% of all personal federal income tax. So what would satisfy you? 90%? 100%? 110%?
I already replied 100% tax of a certain amount. With the extremely high incomes comes extreme control of our politicians. Both parties are for sale to the highest bidder. Well, maybe 80% democrat and 100% republican.
