In a democracy, can the majority deprive the minority of rights?

For example , were 35 million Germans well within their rights to execute 6 million -6,000,000 Jews?

I mean , the Aryans were clearly the majority.

.

A Republic is for individualism
A Democracy is for majority.

A perfect example is the rights of Gays.
The majority of voters voted that marriage is between a man and a woman.
Gays had the right to take it to court.
"With a stroke of his pen, Judge Walker has overruled the votes and values of 7 million Californians who voted for marriage as one man and one woman,"
This is why we are a republic and not a democracy.

Well, if we're going to nit-pick about word meanings, I guarantee that if you went back in time and asked the founding fathers which was more important, they'd say democracy because the word "capitalism" wouldn't be coined for another 70 years or so.

And if you want to talk about the concept, well, there are multiple forms of capitalism, and An Inquiry into the Nature and Causes of the Wealth of Nations was just published in 1776, so the modern theories of economics and free market capitalism were in their infancy. Mercantilism was the most common system and can be considered capitalism or not, depending on who you ask.

First of all it's not JUST the right who do this. The left does it too.

But there are good reasons to pervert word meansing if the business you are about is one that you know most people would object to if they truly understood it.

For example, if instead of the CLEAN SKIES ACT, the authors had named it according to what it actually did?

They'd have had to call that law the " the Continued Right to Spew Toxic Waste into Everybody's Air and Water" law.

MUCH of the political debate is dependent on SEMANTICS.

The masters of propaganda have been using these LIES by SEMANTIC techniques every since representation governments became reality.

So why would they WANT to deny that we live in a KIND of democracy?

Because if people think they live in a democracy, they EXPECT to have some control over what the masters do, THAT'S WHY.

They are doing it for the same reason they perverted the meaning of the words TERRORIST and LIBERAL.. To obfucticate their actions.

Because, dear chum, they are very accomplished LIARS.

What does that have to do with the definition of the words?

I wanted to illustrate that democracy sucks, reason it was rejected by the Founding Fathers.

.

Then why did they set us up with a democracy?

You cant deny the very meanings of words without loolking like a complete idiot who would sell their soul for their party.

Really?

Which documents show(s) that they "set us up as a democracy"?!?!?!?!?!??

" Hence it is that such democracies have ever been spectacles of turbulence and contention; have ever been found incompatible with personal security or the rights of property; and have in general been as short in their lives as they have been violent in their deaths"

James Madison

The very definition says a democracy is the rule of the majority.
Republic is where minorities also have rights over the majority.

If we were a democracy the minority would not be able to go to court to have the majority overruled.
Individualism with minority rights over the majority is a Republic form of government.

i tried to explain all this already, TM will not listen to the truth and only wants to follow a misguided belief that we are a democracy instead of a constitutional republic.

did you read the definition of democracy?

You will lie about anything huh?
