Dem AG in Illinois says votes in red county won't count

If they have a referendum and it passes it should set up some interesting legal challenges. Does Illinois have the power to stop the county from succeeding from one state to the other? Does Missouri want to accept them? Is there any constitutional issues from the move? How would their representatives in congress work?

I hope it passes just to watch the fighting and screaming the democrats will do to challenge or overturn the results of fair democratic election and still claim they are defending democracy.

They'll take their opposition as far as it can be forcibly imposed on others by someone OTHER THAN THEMSELVES. The cowards are all about stealing elections then demanding that others obey their laws. Fook 'em. They better hope that secession is the only relief Americans pursue.

What the A.G. is in fact saying is that there is no legal framework or process by which the county can secede from the State.

Illinois attorney general pushes back against county seeking to secede and join Missouri

So much for Democracy. Citizens in this county should demand that their votes count. No wonder they want to leave Illinois.

They voted for something that is illegal. Sorry; not going to happen.

People voting for something does not automatically make it legal.

No legal way for a county to secede. Your move.

Actually the only way it would work would be a treaty between the States in question, agreed to by both, and probably acknowledged by congress.

Article 4

New States may be admitted by the Congress into this Union; but no new States shall be formed or erected within the Jurisdiction of any other State; nor any State be formed by the Junction of two or more States, or parts of States, without the Consent of the Legislatures of the States concerned as well as of the Congress.

You failed to explain why the votes will not count.

I didn’t read anything about vote nullification.
I don’t see any benefit in joining a state dominated by St Louis and Kansas City politics, either. A sideways move at best. They should instead form their own state. Call it New America.
