Keep your eye on this one folks, remember, I warned you...palms will be greased, but Canada will argue "look, we had more involvement and a better sales approach, that's why we won." They will gloss over any foreign agents working at the office in Seattle, potential bribery, and/or influence via covert means.

Hopefully the Americans and U.S agencies appreciate what is at stake with allowing potential methods to flourish in America, as they are already deeply entrenched in Canada.

‘Dear Jeff…’: Trudeau sends personal pitch to Amazon CEO on choosing Canada for its second headquarters

Prime Minister Justin Trudeau is making a personal pitch to Amazon to open its second headquarters north of the border, marketing Canada’s cities as “progressive, confident and natural homes” for the company.

The deadline to submit bids to Amazon ended Wednesday at midnight, and Toronto, Ottawa, Montreal, Vancouver and Calgary are all expected to be in on the scramble, among many others.

In a two-page letter dated Oct. 13 that starts “Dear Jeff,” Trudeau gives Amazon CEO Jeff Bezos the full sales pitch on Canada — though diligently avoids tipping his hand toward one city or another.

The letter puts a heavy emphasis on Canada as an open, tolerant and multicultural society, before going on to promote the business climate and educated workforce.

“As the first country in the world to adopt a policy of multiculturalism, we have shown time and time again that a country can be stronger not in spite of its differences, but because of them,” it says.

“Diversity is a fact, but inclusion is a choice. Canada has made its decision and our cities have become windows to the world.”

What business is it of yours how a third party addresses another third party?

What should he have written? "Dear Fred"?

Is foreign bribery and espionage committed against an American corporation on American soil (or any soil for that matter) acceptable to you? That is what at stake here, not the letter from the PM. If so, disregard my post.

With thinking like yours, no wonder Clinton felt so emboldened to threaten the globe with uranium sales for BIG cash.

One thing's for sure; since Trump has promised to wage war against tech companies and against letting companies bring the best talent from all over the world into the U.S., Canada looks a lot more appetizing for Amazon. No sales pitch needed.

Once AGAIN, just like your hatred-search the other day ---- I directly address your title, and you immediately try to change the subject.

We needn't even (for now) go into your posing as "Canadian" while dreaming up every angle against that country you can think of.

Just answer the question.

That's a load of BS. Trump is pushing to have corporate tax rates lowered to 15%, that's a MASSIVE advantage. Canada doesn't have some special monopoly on "best talent", especially in tech where we have many thousands from Ontario alone leaving for California. If Canada is so great where is our Silicon Valley? Hell, where is our domestic auto company? We are state run, owned and controlled. If Amazon comes here, they will be infiltrated.

If Canada wins this bid, maybe Trump decides NAFTA isn't very helpful to America after all. Rips it up, and applies a 25% tariff to goods crossing into America. Let's see how Bezos justifies to his shareholders going to Canada to pay higher taxes, allowing access of sensitive intelligence to a foreign government, while his warehouse in Canada is now subject to massive cross border taxes.

My guess is, a move to Canada will spawn a great deal of competition from within America. As it should be.

I explained, this isn't about the letter, this is about Canada entering your corporations and violating NAFTA. Including, though not limited to, the Amazon HQ in Seattle.

I am as Canadian as anyone, born and raised. I just so happen to know a great deal more about Canadian police tactics within corporations than the average citizen on either side of the border. Best you heed my words and do your own homework on the issue if you doubt me.

I think Austin will be the likely recipient. It has Texas's business friendly climate and it's a city full of smug Regressives just like the staff at Amazon.

You could build the HQ on a private island in Texas that requires a ferry to get to work and back and it would be a better location than anywhere in Canada.

Amazon payed a lower tax rate than the 15% you claim Trump wants, so why should they care about that? And as soon as the H1-b is cancelled then Canada will have a monopoly on talent. And Canadians won't be leaving for California anymore, not with Amazon there.

I'd like Amazon to build their 2nd headquarters in the U.S. too, but if I were in charge of a tech company, I'd wait to see if Trump's war on tech succeeds, and if it does I'd look elsewhere.

In turn, if I were Trump I would make sure someone running an internet flea market isn't just going to "dump" foreign goods onto the country via a socialist, neo-communist, state run economic nation like Canada without paying a hefty tariff. National Security concerns alone would support such an action.

Yeah tariffs... the swords of capitalism

Note that Trump has completely failed at swinging his dick around and slapping tariffs on everything like he promised to during his campaign. It's because he can't, because that's not how shit works, and everybody knows it.

Tariffs aren't my favourite concepts, but they are equalizers of sorts against foreign government exploitation. Whether it's Canadian authorities meddling in American companies, or Chinese government depressing the value of the Yuan, or lowered working conditions and wages to steal jobs.

You have to fight socialism, state run economies with some protectionism. It can either be in the form of becoming a socialist/communist country yourself, which is a horrible, soul destroying decision, or, it can be in the form of tariff and the like. Which one do you prefer?

Then how come you can't explain your title leading with "Dear Jeff"?
Just as you couldn't explain your title soliciting "fervent hatred"?

I see a pattern here.

Once again, I didn't write the title, that's the title of the article. I will post it again so you can quickly reference it without going to the first page again, you can contact National Post and ask them that question if you desperately need an answer. I repeat for effect, the letter itself isn't the issue...National Security is.

It appears some unfounded bias against me is clouding your judgement when you read my posts. Please refrain from prejudices as they reflect poorly on you. You remind me of a staunchly proud Canadian on another forum who tries to engage in these discrediting tactics, he tries to twist up my comments and all he successfully does it twist himself up in a pretzel. Don't be that guy.

So you're actually sitting here claiming the titles you choose for your own threads are out of your control?

What was the "title of the article" when you were soliciting "fervent hatred"?
