Dayyyyum. 517,000 jobs created in January, crushing estimates, as unemployment rate hit 53-year low

Some highlights:

  • After revisions, America gained 4.8 million jobs last year. That's 300,000 more than previously reported.
  • Job gains were widespread, in just about every sector. Leading the way: Leisure and hospitality added 128,000 jobs as America continued to rebound from the Covid pandemic.
  • The unemployment rate was 3.4%, the lowest since May 1969 — as in, before Neil Armstrong landed on the moon.
  • Wages grew 4.4% over the past year in January, higher than expected.

Your information is bogus. Wage and salary growth rose in 2021 because of the wane of the pandemic and people going back to work. But it's currently stagnating because of the continuing high rate of inflation.

The Biden Administration always releases high numbers... then later the truth comes out.

Real wages have gone down every month for almost 2 years due to inflation outpacing wage growth, but don't let the facts spoil your celebration.

People taking 2 jobs because they can't pay their bills with one.

And yet the percent of people doing that is below what it was much of the 4 years prior to COVID.

Debt and inflation need to be reigned in. This gives GOP a golden opportunity if they so choose to go for it and take credit for prudent economic decisions before 2024. They will certainly lose anyway.

How does a second job impact the unemployment rate?

It measures who is working and who is not. How much you work above 32 hours is not a factor
