i wouldnt go with anything remotely like the system the brits use
that is utter chaos
look at how its going in Canada, they are having their 4 election in 3 years now
thats utter insannity
i'd rather we keep the basic system we have and make it easier for 3rd party candidates
thats why we need 50% +1 enacted and the EC votes divided by congressional district
with 50%+1, you have the option to vote 3rd party and as long as no one gets over 50%, you have another shot to keep the worst guy out
and sometimes the 3rd party candidate would be the #2 candidate for the runoff
that makes a whole lot more sense than to go with the nutty system the cunnucks have
It may make the whole process more clean, but I am not sure it would really change anything. The British system may be chaotic, but at least minority groups have a reasonable amount of power and influence in the parliament. I am just sick of seeing minority groups being shut out and everyone having to fall into two main groups that have no interest in representing a majority of the public. We have not had a reasonably strong third party influence since the early 1900's and I really don't believe that is what our founding fathers had in mind. If a little chaos is what we need, I am OK with that. The current system has surely not gotten the job done.
