Two symbolic 'folk mythos avatars' are Cyclonus (fictional wolfish robot from Hasbro's A.I. fantasy-adventure film/toy franchise Transformers) and Mary (mother of Jesus and Christian symbol of maternal spiritualism).

While Cyclonus is fictional and Mary is 'real,' both are 'totems' of ethics/values and are arguably diametric opposites. Cyclonus represents wolfish behaviors and is therefore a symbol of evil cunning, while Mary represents maternal godliness and is therefore a symbol of goodly purity.

That's why we can use a Cyclonus-Mary 'dualism' to talk about the contours of capitalism and democracy, an important analysis for modern civilization (especially for U.S. President Donald Trump, no?).

CYCLONUS: God is dead...
MARY: You're a naysayer of civilization!
CYCLONUS: I'm merely indicating that humanity is biased.
MARY: Human beings care about civilization...
CYCLONUS: America is a den of hyenas.
MARY: I disagree; Americans defend democracy.
CYCLONUS: Wall Street is a pool for mischief.
MARY: Everyone likes to tell 'tall-tales.'
CYCLONUS: Capitalism promotes speculation.
MARY: There's nothing wrong with consumerism...
CYCLONUS: Why do kids like water-guns?
MARY: Youngsters indulge in daydreams about free will.
CYCLONUS: America can't negotiate capitalism with democracy.
MARY: What about Who Wants to Be a Millionaire? (TV)?
CYCLONUS: Perhaps LEGO city-sets and SimCity video-games are educational.
MARY: Yes, simulating 'civilization architecture' is inspiring...
CYCLONUS: Why then did terrorists destroy the World Trade Center?
MARY: They were furious about global iniquity regarding Israel-Palestine.
CYCLONUS: Well, I doubt terrorism-themed films such as Munich will 'cure' anger.
MARY: As Jesus suggested, parables about ambition soothe the fractured mind.
CYCLONUS: Can America really become a nation of hosts?
MARY: That's the question, and I don't think it's an overly-idealistic one!
CYCLONUS: Maybe kids like comic books because fantasies promote Utopia.
MARY: Utopian-thinking is characteristic of self-idealization but not repentance.
CYCLONUS: I suppose Wall Street promotes some degree of 'poverty-repentance.'
MARY: Yes, Americans regret the excesses of the '20s which led to the Depression!
CYCLONUS: You and I are like 'counsellors' of consumerism...
MARY: The AntiChrist will reign at the End of Days to challenge academia.
