Democrats/Bush/Republicans have something in common, they have no problem spending our money. That's why they want our health care. And the ones who support health care--> should take a look at public education. You want quality or quantity?

Good communities have good public schools. So good communities will have better health care than poor neighborhoods.

They don't want healthcare so they can use it to milk the treasury. You only think that because that's what the GOP would do.

Us Liberals/Democrats/Progressives want universal healthcare because healthcare the way it is now is a joke. The costs have gotten out of control, like oil did. It's breaking our wallets. And we already have social medicine. It's called the emergency room. We pay for the poor now. If we fix the problem, which you conservatives never seem to want to do, then it will lower costs. And socializing medicine doesn't mean you will get inferior doctors. Right now we are getting inferior doctors.

Everything bad you think will happen if we socialize medicine, has already happened.

And healthcare should be a right. Some things should just not be for profit. Energy, healthcare, war,

We cannot fix the health care crises by simply throwing money at it.

The solution, if we must have one, will be fully socialized medicine.

Any half socialist/half capitalist system we devise (like single payer universal, for example) will end up bankrupting this nation.

Prices for health care will rise until every extra dollar we throw at it is gone, and people will STILL not have decent health care.

Mark my words, fellow liberals, that so called solution will be disasterous if it is implemented.

I'll tell you what has to happen and none of us are going to like it..

1. HC providers will NOT make 20-20 times as much as the average working stiff.

2. Pharceutical companies will have to learn that they will NOT bea ble to rape people with new drugs no better than the old drugs, only still under patent protection.

3. People will NOT be kept alive far longer than they should, just because we can techically keep them alive for a few more months.

4. The government WILL interfer with our lives to prevent us from smoking, drinking, and all the other things we do that are killing us.

Now before some of you come in to chastize me for RECOMMENDING these things happen, understand that I am predicting they will happen, not suggesting they SHOULD happen.

But think about it.

What we have now won't last. Every year mo9re and more people, a higher percentage of the population will "fall though the cracks".

Eventually enough people will DEMAND a solution so they too can get health care.

Cap[italism will NOT have a solution, because capitalism is predicated on the assumption of an economy of scarcity.

So the people, and the government WILL create some kind of socialized system that is TRULY socialized.

Now we may do the single payer universal system first, and that WILL be disasterous in the medium run.

I give it ten years at best before the cost is so damned high that even liberals can see it's unsustainable.

THEN what choice will we have EXCEPT fully socialized medicine?

All the above presumes that america doesn't go completely bankrupt, first, of course.

Frnakly, I suspect this nation's government will be bnakrupt before it comes to that.

More heterosexuals have AIDS than homosexuals. Heterosexuals can get AIDS the same way homosexuals can. The only difference is where you stick your dick. You cannot "create" AIDS by having anal sex. There isn't an increased likelyhood of getting AIDS if you're having anal sex. The only way to get AIDS during sex is through transmission of "fluids."

I was talking to a Nigerian (now American citizen) and he believes the white man created the AIDs virus to kill all the black people in Africa. He believed that a man landing on the moon was special effects you see in Hollywood movies. He doesn't believe gays should marry since he's a Christian. He had to drop out of a business school due to failing grades (surprise, he should have went for liberal arts degree). He made comments like "they will never allow a black man to be president" with the sound of helplessness. You would think nuts like the one i mentioned would be a Republican, after all, they voted for Bush. But he's a Democrat. He says the same thing that sealybobo has said about Iraq, Bush lies, people losing their job, and believes in the kool-aid that the Democratic party promises (never delivers). You should witness the type of information he gets on the Internet. Of course, you could say the same thing about right-wing nuts who listen to Rush/Hannity. and what about heterosexuals who contract AIDS through their lifestyle? do you feel sorry for them? I'm not surprised to hear Bush admit this.

Bush had two lines of thought he could have pursued. That of his hwaks or that of his father and Powell. Mainly his father. Had 9/11 not taken place, I think he would have been more inclined to listen to his fathers direction.

When Powell stood before the UN and presented what he believed and what Bush believed to be correct and vital intelligence the door was open to go either way. Given the over all uncertainty of how much Iraq may have been involved with terror in general (not 9/11) and a possible resurgence of a weapons program, he listened to his hawks. In fact, at that point, even Powell was convinced that enough had been uncovered to support the more direct and harsh approach. The only one still advising him to not take that course was his father, the one who Bush should have listened to, the one man who truly had the best overall understanding and who truly had his son's best interest at heart.

From there other mistakes made the situation worse. The execution of this war frankly was really very poor until of late. Even with our forces in Afghanistan, had Bush made better execution choices, we could have and should have been able to control and stabilize the country much better than we have, thus saving many innocent lives.

Though I sided with 41's approach on how to take Saddam out, I understood why Bush chose to take the course he did. However, I have never been able to understand the early execution failures which really changed the entire outcome of it. He lost my support right then and that was very early on, in fact in the first week of ground movement, because he was placing politics ahead of American lives.

Just my personal feelings on the deal.

AIDS had probably been around for decades, if not centuries before it was discovered. and AIDS isn't a plague since it's spread through bodily fluids and it can be prevented through precautions, unlike a real plague which is spread through airborne transmission and much more necessary to quaranteen people.
