Mostly it was Barber's lying ads about Kelly wanting to do away with SSI and Medicare, which wasn't true at all. Kelly didn't have enough money to counter the ads either.
Also the new redistricting has the advantage for the Dem's.
Then Kelly really didn't do a good job either at counter attacking.
Barber has 5 months for this seat. The majority of the House is still Repubs, so he won't help to get anything done, that the Dem's want.
We shall see how the Nov. elections go for the whole country.

Yes, he is a bit of an extremist whose views do not line up with a majority of Arizonians or even Americans. He supports zero corporate tax and abolishing the minimum wage. That makes him a tad extreme.

Democrat Ron Barber, a former aide to Gabrielle Giffords who was injured in the shooting that nearly took the ex-Arizona congresswoman’s life, won the special election to replace her on Tuesday.

Giffords joined victory celebrations in Tucson Tuesday night and hugged and kissed Barber in the forehead. “Life takes unexpected turns and here we are, thanks to you,” the Assocaited Press quoted Barber as telling his supporters.

With 100 percent of precincts reporting, Barber won about 52 percent of the vote while his Republican rival, Jesse Kelly, received 46 percent, according to the AP. Charlie Manolakis, the Green Party candidate, came a distant third.

This means that Barack Obama automatically becomes President for life and it also serves as undeniable proof that Republicans have itchy butts and shit smelling fingers.
