. . . The IRS demanded the names of every participant at every meeting held over the last two years, transcripts of every speech given at those meetings, what positions they had taken on issues, the names of their volunteers and donors, and copies of communications they had with elected officials and on and on.

Perhaps most chilling of all, the organizer of this particular group soon found herself the object of a personal income tax audit by the IRS.

Obama and big government are on the way. God help us all if Obama gets a second term. Sign of things to come. Democrat leaders Barbara boxer and Harry Reid have sponsored a bill which passed the senate 75 to 25 "senate bill 1813" allows for the US govt to deny or revoke any US citizen that owes back taxes or is in collection with the IRS. The bill is now headed to the House where it's expected to get stiffer opposition. Just imagine how many americans fall under that category. That also means the US govt can legally (unconstitutionally) treat a US citizen who may have encountered economic problems like a common criminal, and prevent that person from leaving the US. Shades of China and Communist USSR. Brings chills to your spine.

Sorry I forgot to mention in the above post "deny or revoke a US Passport". So here is the corrected post, makes much more sense now:

Absolutely no partisan bull shit surprises from this administration. Only a compliant media, derelict in their constitutional duty lets this go on.
This country is headed towards facism, thanks to the radical Democrats and Obama.

Roudy, I would like to say you are all wet on that appraisal, but I cannot. Our president is engaged in the essence of fascism when he uses his office to intimidate private citizens who happen to also be people who depend on their position in business or the corporate world for their livelihood, and who wish to engage in heretofore legal political actions such as contributing to the presidential candidate of their choice.

This past week one of Obama's campaign websites posted an item entitled "Behind the curtain: A brief history of Romney's donors."

In this posting eight private citizens were named whose crime was giving to the Romney campaign. They were described as "having less than reputable records"

Quite a few of Romney's donors are described as to have also been "on the wrong side of the law" and "profiting at the expense of so many Americans."

Some are cited for the crime of having "outsourced" jobs, foreclosed on homes, worked as "a lobbbyist", and one as being "bitter foe of the gay rights movement."

Now this was clearly a deliberate case of damaging the reputation of private citizens, but the more insidious and menacing effect it has is that people who value their reputations are intimidated from opposing his candidacy in favor of his opponent. Who wants to actually "pay" by contributing to get called out in the public forum by a president? How much harm will that do to their future in their business positions, or their future prospects? It certainly will not be seen as a resume enhancer.

Remember that the media told us that Nixon had an "enemies" list? This president has a list and uses it to quell opposition. So there's your "Fourth Estate Media" again, falling down on the job to a grave fault.

It's the same Chicago mob style tactics in everything this administration does.

Shame shame shame. Look at what they are doing to our freedoms and rights:

Senate Bill 1813: Power to Confiscate Your Proof of Citizenship

by KrisAnne Hall
April 17, 2012

What if you had to make a business trip overseas tomorrow only to find out that, even though the IRS does not issue your passport, the IRS has revoked your passport? This is a possible reality if Senate Bill 1813 passes through Congress.

SB 1813 is titled, Transportation Research and Innovative Technology Act of 2012. But, just like the NDAA, this bill has become a Trojan horse for an assault on the constitutionally protected rights of the people of this nation. Inserted deep within this bill, in section 40304, is a provision that gives the IRS the power to revoke your passport for a “seriously delinquent tax debt in an amount in excess of $50,000.” There appears to be no requirement for a judgment by a court; no conviction for fraud or evasion is required, only a “certification by the Commissioner of Internal Revenue”. This is a violation of your right to due process. There is also no provision for Congressional review or approval, therefore this removal of your passport is facilitated by an unelected official who is completely immune from political control of the people. This is a prime example of Legislation without representation. Sure the Senate and House must pass it, but after that the people’s representation is completely removed and a regulatory agency becomes the dictator of the common born rights of Americans.

What does the IRS have to do with your passport? How can non-payment of taxes be the impetus to remove your proof of citizenship or your right to freely travel? Doesn’t the removal of your passport practically affect the status of your citizenship? Are we now forced to believe that common rights of Americans, inherited from our Creator and the blood of our forefathers, are bought by our taxes? If this is true, we have been truly removed from the character of freemen to the state of tributary slaves.

Really spooky (anything coming fromthe discredited Briatphart.com is really spooky).

The really scary thing is this didn't come from Brietbart, it came from The Hill. Just remember, if the government can hassle right wing groups, they can, and will, hassle left wing ones. That explains why intelligent people always object to the government hassling anyone.

GOP demands answers from IRS on Tea Party allegations - The Hill's On The Money

When they came for the Jews, I did nothing, for I am not a Jew. When they came for the Socialists, I did nothing, for I am not a Socialist. When they came for the labor leaders, the homosexuals, the gypsies, I did nothing, for I am none of these, and when they came for me, I was alone, there was no one to stand up for me.

True. And now the facts:

Many tea party groups are applying under section 501 (c) (4) of the federal tax code, which grants tax-exempt status as long as organizations are not primarily involved in activity that could influence an election. That determination is up to the IRS.

Douglas Shulman, IRS Chief, Says Tea Party Groups Not Being Targeted By Agency

Needless to say most TPM groups exist only to attempt to influence the outcome of elections, the IRS investigations are consequently warranted and non-partisan. Indeed, the IRS would be remiss in its duty to the taxpayer if they did not investigate.

Tell me something. As a wannabe lawyer type, what federal code allows the IRS to request the type of information the IRS is requesting?

Neither do I

The TPM does not report income as a politically exempt corporation, nor make any such claims; it does so only as a corporation accepting donations and that has some employees who are not working for free. This is similar in scope to any free enterprise corporation, not for instance like one that claims to not have allegiance to any political party.

The information being sought by the IRS would be pertinent to non political groups, not like the TPM. It's similar to them asking you how your small business corporaton conducted its meetings, what you or other officers said in your minutes; for what possible reason other than an attempt at intimidation?

this stinks

The question here is:

How many applicants for the 501 (c) 4 status has been asked to provide a list of all members, all donors, how much they have given to the Tea Party, and all correspondences between members? Additionally, how many previous applicants have been told to provide back ground information on officers AND members?

I can answer that: none. Only the Tea Party applicants have been asked to provide this incredible amount of information...

Jay Secculo (SP?) of the American Center for Law and Justice has filed a federal lawsuit on behalf of several Tea Party organizations. It looks bad for the IRS...

Remember when Hillary had the files from the IRS on 'enemies' sent to the White House? And the left attempts to silence those who don't tow their line...

You mean like how Acorn and Black Panthers influenced the election in 08 and got away with it, until investigative videos started surfacing?

Yes! She and Bill had over 500 files in the WH of Republicans, claiming that they wanted to consider them for various positions in their administration or periperal situations. Our trusting media had no problem with this at all.

No one at the WH could come up with a name for who had hired the guy who was going through them, a guy named "Craig Livingstone"

The joke of the day among informed Republicans was "who hired Craig Livinstone?" It was never found out for sure, but it shows how well these types can cover their trail.
