Many righties throw, as an invective, “tax and spend liberal” at me. I have been considering it and realize that’s exactly what I am. I wish to see government do whatever services it’s providing, but better, and feel its well-known failings are mainly because of under-funding. I therefore am willing to pay higher taxes for better and expanded, government services

You fail to see the limitations of government, my friend.

We can't even repair our infrastructure because government is bad and taxes us too much.

You fail to see the limitations of government, my friend.

You fail to see what a socialist or communist posts.
This guy wants to revamp our governments role, he wants
a combined tax rate of 60-80-% to be able to fund
his government utopia. Make no mistake about that.

Right, and a socialist or communist, fails at seeing the limitations of government.

I'm hip to it Meister.

Assuming the results that meet or exceed your expectations are what you really want,
which would do a better job of most efficiently spending money i.e. achieving the results you want?

Governments which depends on tax revenues primarily
Non-profits - which depend on donations primarily that are generally tax deductions,
or for profits which pays salaries, pays taxes and what's left over pays shareholders that pay taxes on what's left over.

And, I'm so stupid that I think spending more money automatically means people ware doing their job better. And, I really want a more effective SWAT response for stamping out raw milk and that doesn't come cheap.

Odd, my (real) socialist pen-pal sees me as quite right wing.

And no, I do not want a tax rate of 80% unless I had $50 million left like Romney.

At least you would admit to the 80% for some, and obviously 60% is good with you. I could care less what your "real socialist" friend says about you. You could stand shoulder to shoulder with him and be proud. You are who you are, might as well come out of the closet

Nope, more money gives you the flexibility to hire people who can and will do the job well.

Are we talking in general, or can I add in specific examples?

(In general, I would say the for-profit--but I can think of specific situations in which the for-profit is actually the worst choice! For spending money. For providing the service. If you listen to right wing radio, I can assume we can leave out providing the best price when we talk about private contractors to the government. )

So don't tax the capitalists who put their money back in their businesses to do just that.

No, unlike Romney, I couldn't afford 60% and oppose it.

I never feel 'head and shoulder' with my socialist friend who is far too left wing for me. But getting upset over the invectives of GOPper 'base-nuts' is in my past! Fie on you! Scurry off!

Scurry off? You really don't know me, do you?
I said 60%-80% "combined taxes"
Income tax
VAT
gas tax
state tax
local taxes
communication tax
etc
This is what you're asking in your utopia government, hilbert. Be up front in your big government vision.

By the way....paying people more money doesn't equate them doing a better job.
People are people, some good some not...pay has nothing to do with it.
Just another thing your big government would screw up on.

Just because you disagree with me, don't tell me to scurry off, it makes you look weak.

Haven't you heard? You sure wouldn't work out in Personnel!

You can hire highly skilled people for higher salaries

There are lots of ways to make money by sucking it out of the economy, it should not be rewarded with low taxes.

Oh brother.
Even though they're highly skilled means just what?
I see highly skilled, and highly paid people getting canned everyday for not performing.
We're going to see heads rolling within the Secret Service....they get paid serious bucks.
Your point of contention is a fail. People are people
